    BACKGROUND

    As may be known already, the chosen chaos legion of Slaanesh, The Emperor'sChildren, fractured into various warbands following the Horus Heresy. The Brotherhood ofthe Deafening Aurora was one such faction.

    Along with the majority of the forces of chaos following that great defeat, they fledto the Eye of Terror and settled upon a brutally cold daemon world they dubbed Vitriolic.Taking shelter within its extensive mountain-based caverns and domesticating the variouswarp-spawned beasts within, the Brotherhood had found their true home.

    After several years spent launching minor raids into the Imperium, the Brotherhoodwelcomed new members into its ranks: a warband of Emperor's Children whose nameshave been lost to time, who had barely survived an attack by Tau of the Sa'cea sept andfled to the Eye, chancing upon Vitriolic. In their final battle, Kroot who had canibalized thefallen children of Slaanesh mutated and became his children themselves, joining thewarband and therefore the Brotherhood, where they were welcomed with open arms. Both

    as a show of alliance and as yet another debased practice, cannibalism spread throughoutthe Brotherhood like wildfire.

    Organized and larger raids into the Imperium with their newfound allies yieldedgreat amounts of slaves, gear, and munitions. The Brotherhood began using its experiencemining and tunnelling through the caverns on Vitriolic to develop a new combat tactic:letting its Brothers who were more skilled with ranged weaponry, such as the Noise Marinesand Havocs, form a gunline, luring the enemy closer. Once they've moved in, those withmore close-combat experience tunnel under the enemy and catch them from the other sidewith devastating combat-drug-induced charges and close-range weaponry.

    The Brotherhood of the Deafening Aurora began then to trade amongst the other

    chaos legions, exchanging supplies for new recruits and technology, such as ObliteratorCults and Vindicators. Through this, the Brotherhood formed strong bonds with the BlackLegion and Word Bearers legions, leading to Saidyx the Obscene, Mouth of Slaanesh andTraitor to the White Consuls, joining the Brotherhood.

    Interaction with the other chaos legions inevitably led them into contact with otherEmperor's Children warbands, most of whom, rather than joining the Brotherhood in battle,

    joined them in orgiastic celebrations filled with noise, sex, drugs, and bouts of one-on-onecombat. It was during this time that the then-Lieutenant Helveticus the Screaming engagedthe legendary Lucius the Eternal and lost. Rather than slaying Helveticus, Lucius humiliatedhim utterly and then refused to take his life.

    As the raiding continued and grew to greater and greater heights, a raiding groupattempted to gain supplies from a planet besieged by Tyranid invasion. This resulted in thedeath of the Chaos Lord Wikjiro Balbaon, First Among Rabbits, who died by his own spitefuldaemon blade in combat against a Trygon. His Lieutenant Balbaon Minoron took up hisenchanted mask and former daemon sword Black Dragon and uses them in combat to thisday.

    As the Brotherhood swelled with numbers and wealth, raids into Imperium-controlledspace became fewer and fewer. The caverns of Vitriolic became host to a perpetualorgiastic celebration of the senses. Centuries passed, with very little change or growth

    within the legion....

    All along, our lord of desire and excess Slaanesh had been watching his children, theBrotherhood... and was not pleased with what he was now seeing. Although they nowdrowned themselves in excess, it became stale and boring in his eyes, and what could

    potentially be his mightiest weapon in the great battle against the other three gods ofchaos and against the Imperium was wasting away. Day by day, he became more and more

    irate, his emotions rippling through the daemons on Vitriolic who went on a killing spree,sparking a brutal yet graceful civil war between the chaos space marines of theBrotherhood and their trained beasts versus the myriad daemons of Slaanesh.

    Slaanesh decided he had seen enough. The daemons of Slaanesh on Vitriolicsuddenly stopped their dances of death with the Brotherhood, gazing upward as Slaaneshreached across the void in his desire to strike his children from their sad ways.

    If you desire pleasure... you will do my work. You will soaramongst the stars... You will crush my enemies and discover newheights of excess... From this day... you will have no other choice.

    The senses of each and every member of the Brotherhood of the Broken Hearts wasdulled to crippling levels. Each Brother must now make an immense effort just to feelanything at all. The daemons of Slaanesh left Vitriolic and the Brotherhood, never to return.Depression and insanity spread throughout the Brotherhood, who united under the newtitle Brotherhood of the Broken Hearts to regain their good graces with Slaanesh and tocope with this recent disaster.

    Raids became a daily occurence, and thus the entire Brotherhood becamesupremely skilled raiders. Combat drugs spread throughout the Brotherhood, and weretaken via bodysuits equipped with stim injectors sewn and screwed into the skin, to lethallevels of doses in attempts to feel the effects as strongly as they once had. Sorcerers

    within the Brotherhood infused paints with daemonic essence and applied it to theBrotherhood's armour, causing it to shift colors in a violently beautiful fashion.

    The current standard color scheme of the Brotherhood of the Broken Hearts is goldtrim with primarily blue armour plates but with alternating plates of random, shiftingcolors. This is often dictated by the personal tastes of those above them, and oftenindividuals will choose to vary their color schemes. Some champions, for example, still beartheir post-Heresy Emperor's Children colors, but with a modified symbol.

    The symbol of the Brotherhood of the Broken Hearts changes every now and again,but is always the symbol of the Emperor's Children chaos legion, a black eagle's wing witha raking eagle's claw, but with a different symbol rather than the pink lightning bolt inside.

    The current inner symbol is a pink heart split in two down the middle.

    SPECIAL RULES

    Burrowing Assault: The primary method of attack utilized by Brotherhood raiders involvesdrawing the enemy forward with a small gunline while the rest of the army either

    Deep- Strikes in or uses drills to burrow around the enemy. Any relevant units thatmay purchase this as listed in their entry, and that numbers 10 models or less, may

    enter play through Burrowing Assault instead of through normal deployment for anadditional 70 points. Such units have a "Tunnel Marker" added to them, which

    are on 40mm bases, and enter play through Deep-Strike, centered around the TunnelMarker. The Marker itself has no statistics, counts as Impassable Terrain, andany other unit entering through Burrowing Assault in later turns may, instead ofDeep-Striking around their own Marker, center around the in-play Marker. Any unitentering play through Burrowing Assault may assault out of Deep-Strike. AnIndependent Character that begins play attached to one of these units enters playthrough Burrowing Assault as well, but Independent Characters in TerminatorArmour count as 2 models towards the 10 model limit. Krootoxen and models on Steedsalso count as 2 models towards this limit.

    Overdose: The drugs coursing through the veins of every member of the Brotherhood take alethal toll on the occasional Brother, even in the middle of combat. At the end

    of every owning player's turn, select one of the squad's members and roll a d6.On a 3 or less, the model is removed as a casualty. If an Independent Character ormodel with a Number/Squad 1 has this ability, at the end of every owning player'sturn in which this model is not joined to a unit, you must roll a d6 for that modeland get a 4 or higher or else that model takes 1 wound that cannot be prevented byarmour saves, invulnerable saves, or Feel No Pain.

    Chaos Paints: Each Brother's armour is covered in paints of shifting hues, due to the chaosenergy implanted into them thanks to the Brotherhood's sorcerers. As a result, anymodel with this ability cannot claim better than a 5+ cover save, unless the model inquestion is a Vehicle currently using Smoke Launchers.

    Snow-Formatted: The vehicles of the Brotherhood are specially built to better serve them inthe arctic conditions on Vitriolic. If a model with this rule moves and the battle

    is set on any ice- or snow-based terrain, the model gains the Move Through Cover

    special rule.

    UNIQUE HQ

    Helveticus the Screaming, Denied Prince of Slaanesh- 250 POINTS

    During the orgiastic celebrations between the Brotherhood and various other Emperor'sChildren warbands upon Vitriolic, many one-on-one fights to the death were held between Marinesas entertainment. Then-Lieutenant Helveticus the Screaming fell in combat against Lucius the

    Eternal. Rather than slay his opponent, Lucius humiliated him thoroughly nd left him horriblywounded, but alive. Helveticus nursed his wounds and eventually rose to become a great ChaosLord, before the civil war on Vitriolic.

    Denied his chance to become a Daemon Prince due to the fall of the Brotherhood, Helveticusleads a strong warband of the Brotherhood, challenging the Brotherhood's mightiest foes to duelsacross the battlefield. He humiliates them as he once was, both in an attempt to restore hisshattered pride and to restore himself in Slaanesh's eyes, before the poisons within his Needle ofDesire leave his victims in a permanent and ecstatic coma.

    Should his challenge be denied, Helveticus will fly into a rage, bringing his full power to bearand pushing his close minions to even greater feats of combat.

    Helveticus still bears his pink and black post-Heresy colors, reasoning that he shall not beworthy to bear his chaos legion's colors until he has finally destroyed his archrival, Lucius. He is stillsearching for a way to get around Lucius' immortality, and will not rest until he has....

    *Needle of Desire- An ancient daemon weapon which did not immediately kill its ownerduring the daemon wars on Vitriolic. Due to his mastery of the weapon, Helveticus is able to

    sate its wrath. The Needle of Desire is a Poisoned (3+) Power Weapon that adds anextra d6 Attacks in close combat. If a 1 is rolled, Helveticus makes no attacks andinstead must make an invulnerable save or take one wound.

    *Helveticus' Challenge- At the beginning of the game, after all models have been deployedbut before the first turn begins, if Helveticus is on the table, select one enemy

    HQ choice within his line of sight (regardless of whether Night Fighting is in effect).If a Unique enemy character is in play and visible, Helveticus must choose thatcharacter. The owning enemy player then must choose to Accept or to DenyHelveticus' Challenge. Apply one of the following effects based on their choice:

    Accept- If Helveticus is killed by the targeted enemy HQ, the owning enemy playergains one extra Kill Point in Kill Point-based missions, twice as many Victory Points in

    Victory Point-based missions, and counts as controlling one moreobjective than he or she does in objective-based missions. You gain these

    things if the targeted enemy HQ is killed by Helveticus. BothHelveticus and the target enemy HQ may re-roll all failed armour and invulnerablesaves against any attacks produced by any other model not involved in thechallenge.

    Deny- Helveticus is greatly offended by his chosen opponent's denial and flies into arage. Until the end of the game Helveticus and any squad he leads gains

    Preferred Enemy and Rage.

    Balbaon Minoron- 155 POINTS

    Before the fall of the Brotherhood, a warband led by Chaos Lord Wikjjiro Balbaon, FirstAmong Rabbits, engaged in an ill-fated raid on the industrial world Colosse IV, whose security wasweakened due to an ongoing Tyranid invasion. He was at the head of a small force consistingentirely of Noise Marines with Sonic Blasters, a Chaos Land Raider, two Chaos Rhinos, a ChaosDreadnought, and a Defiler, when the group was assaulted at an industrial complex by the tyranids,a Trygon and a Tervigon in their midst.

    The battle seemed fairly even, the Noise Marines forming an obscenely loud gunline behindcover, until pods dropped near their front lines, unleashing reinforcements that allowed the Tyranidforce to cross the no-man's land. Bellowing spite and curses, Wikjiro hopped into his Land Raideraffectionately named "Lovely Note" and rode it into the fray. He leapt out and engaged the Trygon,hoping that his daemon blade Black Dragon would give him the strength to fell the mighty beast.The cruel daemon inside had other plans, as the sword twisted around and stabbed him in his rightcalf, easily penetrating his Terminator Armour. Wikjiro stumbled to the ground, clutching his leg, andmanaged to glimpse upwards as the Trygon brought its mighty tail down over him, completelycrushing his body.

    Wikjiro's mask and daemon sword were kept and maintained by his Lieutenant, BalbaonMinoron. The daemon within the sword Black Dragon broke free during the civil war on Vitriolic, butBalbaon Minoron is still able to use the finely-crafted blade well thanks to his master's teachings. Hehas never forgotten the day he acquired these relics and has trained himself and his cronies to fight

    hand-to-hand against Tyranids, his love for his fallen master equalling that of a son who has lost afather....

    Independent Character*Black Dragon- Once a daemon sword before the great daemon war upon Vitriolic, this black

    wooden blade with intricate carved runes is now simply an exquisite master-crafted weapon. Black Dragon is a master-crafted Great Weapon, meaning thatwhen used in combat, it adds +1 to the user's Strength and may re-roll one miss ineach round of close combat, but the user may not shoot during the same turn.Note that Balbaon also has a Close Combat Weapon and therefore Black Dragon doesnot have to be used.

    *Mask of Wikjiro- A sorcereous mask once wielded by Wikjiro Balbaon, First Among Rabbits.Its full powers are unknown, but its wielder has learned to tap into it in order toproduce terrifying illusions that can obscure his allies or frighten enemy troops.

    All enemy units within 12" of Balbaon Minoron must roll 3d6 for all leadershiptests, discarding the lowest die roll. In addition, all allied units within 6" of BalbaonMinoron receive a 4+ cover save and count as being in cover for the purposes ofassault. This overrides the Chaos Paints rule, but grants no cover save to BalbaonMinoron.

    Saidyx the Obscene, Traitor to the White Consuls and Mouth of Slaanesh- 165 POINTS

    Saidyx was a loyal Space Marine and a member of the White Consuls legion. When the WhiteConsuls were defeated by a group of Word Bearers traitor marines, Saidyx joined them rather thanlet himself be killed, giving in to his desire to worship and be rewarded for it. Though he worships allfour Chaos gods, he prefers Slaanesh above all others, and has been rewarded with the voice ofSlaanesh himself, a ploy by Slaanesh to ensure the Marine's ultimate loyalty.

    Saidyx joined the Brotherhood while in the Eye of Terror, during a time of trade and

    recruitment before the civil war on Vitriolic. He commands great respect from his followers due tothe nature of his daemonic gift, and though he may worship other gods in addition to Slaanesh, he is

    just as determined as anyone to gain back his favor....

    *Mouth of Slaanesh- Saidyx has been granted the ultimately alluring and destructive voiceof Slaanesh himself. As a result, he is granted the Siren Song and Searing Breathpsychic powers and the ability to use them, as is reflected in his Wargear. Healways passes psychic tests when using either of these powers. In addition, anyenemy unit that wishes to assault Saidyx, except for White Consuls due to theirnatural hatred of him, must take a morale test. If the test is failed, the unit maynot make an assault that turn.

    Asmodeus, Lust Incarnate and Savior of the Fallen- 1500 POINTS

    Rye Voldoss had been one of the many remembrancers who had witnessed the Maravigliaalong with the Emperor's Children before the events at Isstvan V, and the only survivor who was nota space marine. He was held rapt alongside a then-Sergeant named Samuel Ardias in one of theupper boxes, a chance circumstance that at once saved his life yet doomed him to a life ofinferiority among the superhumans of the Emperor's Children.

    Voldoss reacted to the Maraviglia by becoming surgically masochistic, allowing then-

    Apothecary Fabius free rein to alter and experiment with his body, along with various of his ownsuggestions. Voldoss became both physically and psychically potent, able to alter his voice to

    produce any number of tones and sounds, controlling the emotions of others and altering reality insmall bursts around him. The Lord Commanders of the Emperor's Children encouraged yet moreexperimentation, seeing him as both entertaining and a potentially powerful weapon against theImperium. Unfortunately, the gods of chaos recognized him as a powerful force as well.

    While Slaanesh was watching his growing child with interest, allowing him to survivesurgeries that should have killed him and allowing subtle mutations to bloom within him, Khorne,Nurgle, and especially Tzeentch recognized this mortal as a threat, refusing to allow him to becomea Daemon Prince of Slaanesh. Working together, the three pooled their power to produce a chaoscurse that would send Voldoss to a completely random time, location, and dimension far and awayfrom his present. Slaanesh, however, added his own power to the spell, instilling a bit of his own willwithin Voldoss and ensuring that the curse would transport him once again to a different dimension

    every six-squared days.In a flash of brilliant blue light, Voldoss found himself on Earth in a time much like our own.

    Within a month, he bent the entire planet to its knees in favor of Slaanesh, defeating the planet'smightiest heroes, and creating an orgy of freedom of expression, pleasure, and excess that earnedhim the status of Daemon Prince. He is a master manipulator and shape-shifter, and generallyavoids open conflict, but once angered his warp-spawned cries can destroy the resolve and sanity ofeven the most fearless soldiers. He is capable of shifting his cry into reality-distorting music thatshifts the land, seas, and sky in tune to his song. He is also lethal in close combat, transforminghimself into a whirling dervish of teeth and claws. He has gone by many monikers throughout thecountless centuries of his existence, but the name he cherishes the most was given to him bySlaanesh himself upon attaining Daemonhood: Asmodeus, Lust Incarnate and Savior of the Fallen.

    Millions of years old, Asmodeus travels across dimensions, waiting to be reunited with hisfellow Emperor's Children, ready to lead them against every force in the 40k universe as the most

    powerful Daemon Prince in existence. Though he himself is unaware of the grim fate of theBrotherhood, Slaanesh intends to return favor to them at the time Asmodeus leads them to ultimatevictory.

    pair of Lightning Claws (extra attack already included in profile), and thevarious limbs that can spring forth from his form at a moment's notice give him anextra d6 Attacks during each close combat phase (already included in profile).Azaaza's various mutations also count him as being equipped with FragGrenades, Defensive Grenades, a Doom Siren, and a vehicle's Warp Amp

    *Herald of Slaanesh- Azaaza may only be selected during Apocalypse matches, or as an HQ

    choice in a Chaos Daemons army consisting entirely of daemons of Slaanesh.He may be accompanied by a retinue of 1-10 Heralds of Slaanesh, as chosenfrom Codex Chaos Daemons. These represent, respectively, Azaaza organizing theBrotherhood for their galactic crusade and his initial (if temporary) appearancein the Warhammer 40k universe. If in an Apocalypse match, neither Azaaza northese Heralds arrive by Deep- Strike, but are fielded instead as standard infantryin unit coherency. The Heralds cannot select Chariots of Slaanesh, and cannotleave coherency with Azaaza.

    *Worldshaker Song- Azaaza is capable of vocalizing any set of sounds at any volume, andoften uses this power as a weapon, weaving spells into glorious but terrifying songsthat cause earthquakes, storms, eclipses, and shifts between day and night in time tothe rhythm. At the beginning of each of your turns, you may choose to have Azaazaproduce either Worldshaker Song or Cry of Chaos, or neither. If Worldshaker Song isselected, as long as Azaaza is alive on the battlefield, until the beginning of your nextturn, all open terrain is counted as difficult and all difficult terrain is counted asdangerous, and Night Fighting is in effect.

    *Cry of Chaos- Azaaza's far-reaching cry is capable of shaking even the most brave man,reaching into his very soul and holding everything the victim cherishes up to him as

    vile and worthless. At the beginning of each of your turns, you may choose to have Azaazaproduce either Worldshaker Song or Cry of Chaos, or neither. If Cry of Chaos isselected, as long as Azaaza is alive on the battlefield, until the beginning of

    your next turn, all successful Leadership tests must be rerolled and all Fearlessmodels lose Fearless. He and his retinue are immune to this effect.
