Integrated Development Services

Utilize some or all of a full range of services designed to develop your materials into thin-film products

• Custom material preparation by compounding or formulating in an aqueous or solvent solution

• Small-scale, thin-film coating on flexible supports in a roll-to-roll process

• Final product assembly using lamination, interleaving, slitting, winding, or chopping

• Environmental conditioning to assess the stability of your proprietary materials as they age

• Physical property evaluation to determine how your product will perform in your customers’ hands

Range of Coating Applications

For thermoplastic materials Create compounded resins with additives to optimize material properties Cast materials into 25–1000 µm thick films Extrude materials as a 2–500 µm thick coating on paper or plastic webs

For water-soluble materials Gravure coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 0.2–2.0 cc/sq ft Slot die coat on paper, plastic, or metal webs at wet thicknesses of 1.5–10 cc/sq ft Slide hopper coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 6–20 cc/sq ft Curtain coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 6–20 cc/sq ft Rod/blade coat on paper webs to your specifications

For non-water-soluble materials Gravure coat on paper or plastic webs at wet thicknesses of 0.2–2.0 cc/sq ft Slot die coat on paper, plastic, or metal webs at wet thicknesses of 1.5–10 cc/sq ft Spray coat on paper or plastic webs

Testing ServicesEnvironmental conditioning

Test chambers let you subject your materials to critical environmental factors. Your materials can be subjected to a single condition or a combination of conditions to simulate product aging. Critical environmental factors include

Light Heat Humidity Environmental gases Atmospheric pressure

Testing Services

Physical property testingPhysical property tests let you evaluate the performance characteristics of your materials. These tests are conducted in precisely controlled environments using rigorously calibrated test fixtures. All our tests can be run at a range of temperature and humidity conditions. Specific characteristics to measure include

Mechanical strength Adhesive forces Friction Surface characteristics Flatness (curling) Dimensional stability
