PLANT DETAILS

The Coal firing system consists of separate raw coal feederconnected to each mill. This raw coal feeder is of Gravimetric belttype feeder with electronic weighing micro processor basedcontrol system type.

OBJECTIVE

To commission the Coal Feeder and make it available for coalfiring of the boiler.

PROPOSAL

It is proposed to commission the feeders by putting the

equipments under 8 Hrs. trail run ( As per the normal operatingmode )

SERVICES REQUIRED

Availability of man power with required tools for attending anyleak and cleaning of filters.

Availability of operating personnal to carryout/co-ordinateactivities.

Availability of lighting arrangements and communication facilitiesin the Feeder areas.

Availability of portable fire fighting equipment near test area.

Availability of LT Power Supply

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Debris in and around feeders shall be removed.

First Aid Kit is available near the test area

Operation of local start/stop push button shall be ensured forperfect operation to facilitate for stopping of equipment in case of

necessity.

Approach / staircase / platform wherever required and madeavailable..

Portable fire fighting system made available at test area.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

The test team should be aware of the procedure to be adopted incase of damage to machinery/injury of any personnel connectedto the activity.

The test team should be well aware of the procedures to beadopted incase of any abnormality in the activity.

Feeder inspected & cleared for any debris or any foreignmaterial.

The illumination lamp inside the feeder energized for properlighting

The feeder inlet manual gates are checked for their freeness andthe operation of full open / close limit swiches. The gates are keptin fully closed condition before taking up the commissioning of thefeeder.

METHOD

Commissioning of Feeder

Check the meggar value of motor and ensure that the value issatisfactory.

Ensure that the feeder inside is clean without any foreignmaterial.

Check that the weigh span rollers are properly aligned as per O &M manual.

Check that the belt tension is adjusted as per the instuction givenin O & M manual.

Start the feeder.

Adjust the take up pulley at the rear side so that the belt runsexactly at the center and doesnt deviate slowly to any one side.When the belt slips to any one side, the corresponding sides

tension adjustment screw to be adjusted such a way that the belttightness increases in that side marginally.

Allow the feeder to run for 8 hr trial with belt running smoothlywithout requiring any adjustment.

Start the clean out conveyer and run for four hour trail run.

After completion of the trial run, calibriate the feeder forgravimetric mode operation.

Check the indication of feeder speed / weight are same both incontrol panel and in UCB.

Check the operation of No Coal alarm switch, Feeder chutepluggage paddle switch, Belt deviation limit switches bysimulation.

Commission the other Feeders as per steps given above

COMPLETION CRITERIA

Commissioning of the coal feeder completed by carrying theproposals given in Section 3.0
