Ourworldisbuiltusingsteelandwithincreasingdemandforsteel,moresustainablesoluAonsareneeded.OurcustomersneedsoluAonsthatdeliverhigherperformanceintermsofenergyefficiency,resourceefficiencyandbeFerprocessandproductperformance.

thelaunchofaprojectthatcansolvethesteelindustry’scarbondioxidechallenge,HYBRIT(HydrogenBreakthroughIronmakingTechnology).

►  TheaimistoreducecarbondioxideemissionsfromironmakingtozerobyeliminaAngtheneedtousefossilfuelforironorereducAon.TheideaistoreplacetheblastfurnaceswithanalternaAveprocess,usinghydrogenproducedfrom“clean”electricity.

►  Thismeansthattheby-productfromironmakingwouldbewaternotcarbondioxide.

►  ThefollowingarerequiredfromapoliAcalperspecAve:−  CondiAonsforagreenindustrialresearchprogramtoenabletestfaciliAesfor

hydrogengas-basedironmaking−  IntegraAonofworkonzeroemissions2045withlaborpolicy−  Linkenergypolicywithindustrialandenvironmentalissues.Moregreen

electricitycanreplacefossilfuelinbaseindustry.
