Judges Profiles Our International Judges Diana Rothermel - CFA (USA)

Diana’s journey in the Cat Fancy began in 1969, registering Confection Cattery, breeding and showing Himalayans and adding a few years later, Silver Persians. In later years, she also bred (and/or exhibited) Solid, Particolor and Bi-Color Persians, Oriental Shorthairs, Japanese Bobtails and Abyssinians. She bred a number of Grand Champions, Regional Winners and showed a Blue Persian to CFA National Eight Best Cat.

Diana has been involved with working cat clubs since the beginning of her cat fancy days, helping to produce shows every year, holding every position in club activities. Becoming a CFA judge in 1986, she is Approved Allbreed status, judging frequently throughout the year. Having had the pleasure of judging in twenty-seven different countries. Diana also has been selected for the judging panel of the CFA International/World show ten times and judged at the prestigious Madison Square Garden show in New York City. She is proud to have been selected the CFA Judge’s Association Spotlight Award winner for 2019.

On a personal level, Diana has two adult children and two grandchildren. Her home is in Scottsdale Arizona, where she has lived for the past 28 years, sharing her home with Dick Kallmeyer, a Fawn, a Blue and a Red Abyssinian and a Blue-Gold Macaw Parrot.

Tim Murphy - ACFA (USA) Tim Murphy is an all breeds teaching judge for the American Cat Fanciers Association known as the ACFA.

Tim has been judging since the year 2000. He breeds and shows Exotic shorthair and Persian cats. He has been fortunate enough to have had several National wins including both Kitten and Cat of the Year.

Tim has also had the privilege of being owned by a Devon Rex and he has also shown Maine Coons cats.

Time loves to travel and he enjoys judging at shows.

Rod U’Ren - CFA (AUS) Rod lives in Melbourne, Australia. He had his first pet cat at 3, started breeding pedigreed cats in 1968, but finally realized it didn’t fit into an increasingly busy life in 2014. He bred mostly Persians under the Firnbank, Sublime and Preview prefixes, but has also bred Exotics, Scottish Folds and Singapuras.

Rod started judging in 1978 and has judged widely in South Africa, USA, New Zealand and most of Asia. He began guest judging CFA shows in Asia in 2006 and has since judged about 80 CFA shows. At the start of 2018, he applied to become a CFA judge and was granted his Approved All Breed status in 2019; being the only CFA judge living in Australia. This has changed his direction in the cat world and he is enjoying this new stage of his career.

He is still the CCCT Registrar in Tas and helps with difficult registration issues in FCCV. Despite his CFA links now, he is always happy to judge amongst old friends in Australasia when available.

Kit Fung - CFA (USA) Kit Fung comes from Hong Kong and works for the Hong Kong Police Force. He is a CFA Approved Allbreeds Judge. Kit has over fourtenn years experience breeding American Shorthairs. He has owned three National Winners and over twenty International Divisional winners. He also the owner of the only longhair Manx in Asia.

Previously Kit has show handled other breeds including Persians, Exotics, Maine Coons, Ragdolls, British Shorthairs and Oriental Longhairs. Besides a cat lover, he also loves musical, photography and travel.

The cat fancy has truly taken me around the world making friends and enjoying our beautiful felines. Founding member of Sunkat Felines Fanciers; and past Secretary for San Francisco Revelers Cat Club. I have managed shows for both clubs and the North West Regional and our Regional Qualifier show. I will be teaching all longhair breeds at CFA’s Breed Awareness and

Orientation School in October 2019.

Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University 1978. I was a Commercial Credit Officer for Bank of America, and worked for Bank of America for 41 years, recently retiring. My husband, Tom, and I live in Prunedale, California which is 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean with our 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, our “senior” Persians, and a Black & white SH rescue kitty. In our spare time, we enjoy gardening, skiing, camping, hiking, riding our motorcycles and walking the dogs on the coastal trails.

Rachel Anger - CFA (USA) Rachel Anger is from the Detroit, Michigan area, where she lives with her youngest teenage son (the older son is in the United States Navy) and works as a legal assistant for Michigan’s largest law firm. Rachel’s natural love and appreciation for all animals led her to become a CFA judge in 1994. Since that time, she has judged across the United States and Canada, as well as in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Indonesia and Thailand. She has had the honor of judging several times at the CFA-Iams Cat Championship Show at Madison Square Garden, New York (including Best of the Best), as well as the CFA International Shows in Cleveland (including Best of the Best), Detroit (Novi), Philadelphia (Oaks), Houston, Atlanta, San Mateo CA (including Best of the Best), the first CFA National Show in Indianapolis in 2011, and the 2014 CFA World Championship Show in Philadelphia. Rachel has appeared in the televised videos The Standard of Perfection and Cat-Minster, and the 2018 Netflix documentary Catwalk: Tales from the Cat Show Circuit.

Rachel has shown cats since 1978 and currently works with Persians and Sphynx at her Camberwell cattery. She also owns and shows Papillion dogs. One of her dogs won several allbreed Best in Show titles, as well as many Specialty Best in Show titles, and numerous group and breed placements. Rachel and her son have a small aviary, and she rides one of three Harley Davidsons she owns as often as time allows. Rachel is the past Chair of the CFA Judging Program and continues to participate on the faculty of the CFA Breed Awareness and Orientation Schools as an instructor. She is serving her ninth consecutive term as Secretary on the CFA Board of Directors. In 2008 and commencing again in 2015, she has served as CFA’s delegate to the World Cat Congress annual meeting. She looks forward to continuing to serve the cat fancy, both behind the judging stand and at the board table. Her judging philosophy is to “honor and respect each cat, each exhibitor and each fellow judge”, and through that philosophy has been fortunate enough to develop many life-long friends.

Our Australian CCCA Judges Allan Davies – CatsQld

I bred my first purebred kittens when I was 16. In partnership with my wife Gail, I have bred many different breeds. These include Siamese, Persians, Exotic Shorthair, Scottish Folds, Bengals, Devon Rex, British Shorthair and Burmese. We are currently owned by Miss – a lovely Devon.

I have held many positions in various clubs and associations within the cat fancy over the years. I am currently President of Cats Queensland Inc. I became an All Breeds judge in 2006 and have judged throughout Australia, New Zealand, USA, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

It is an utmost privilege to be asked to officiate at the 2020 CCCA National to be held in Melbourne this year.

Janet Overton - FCCV My love of Siamese began in 1988, which then progressed to the show ring, as well as showing Siamese, a Seal Point, I acquired a Black Oriental. I have successfully bred both Siamese and Orientals under the prefix of Campari. Having enjoyed many major wins with both, I now have ventured into showing Bicolour Orientals.

I obtained my Judging Licence for Group 2 with the Feline Control Council of Victoria in 1999. My Group 1 Licence was obtained in 2018. I have judged in Victoria and Tasmania. I am a retired Accountant who is now thoroughly enjoying my hobby, showing and judging.

Fiona Mangan – NSWCFA Animals have always been important in my life. After growing up with the company of whippets,

greyhounds and a succession of cats of varying descriptions, I became interested in cats in a serious way after forming a liaison with my first Abyssinians, a tawny and a silver, in 1989. Initially, it was just an involvement in showing cats but breeding them soon followed, specialising in Silver Abyssinians under the Nivalis prefix. Today, we have a multi–cat household, each of them allotted time according to their need to love and be loved. All cats are special and each is unique, regardless of their ancestry.

I am a member of several cat clubs and have, for many years, been actively involved with the Abyssinian Cat Club of Australasia serving in roles including President, Secretary, Treasurer and Show Manager. Since 1998 I have been active as a steward, enjoying assignments in all groups and in 2003, qualified as a Companion Exhibit Judge.

My pedigreed judging experience began with Group 3 (full licence 2010), followed by Group 2 in 2013, attaining my Shorthair Judge’s licence. I completed my Longhair licence (Group 1) and was granted full licence as an All Breeds Judge in November 2016. Currently residing in the Hunter Valley Wine Country region of NSW, I enjoy observing and learning about our local wildlife. Apart from my strong interest in all things feline, other interests include zoology, reading, embroidery, quilting.

Cheryl Ross - FASA I joined the Feline Association of SA In., in 1975 and starting breeding Tabby Point Siamese under the Prefix of Cheros. I was then fortunate enough to bring into South Australia a Havana male (now called Chocolate Orientals) and became hooked on them. Continued working with the tabbies and then introduced silver to the program.

Whilst working with the Orientals and a new prefix of Talkabout, I purchased my first Devon Rex (Silver Tabby) and was immediately intrigued with these gorgeous weird looking ET cats. I found them to be very people oriented and dog like in their characteristics. I was very fortunate enough to have access to the UK lines resident in South Australia and spent quite a few years enjoying their company and seeing them go to homes where previously people were unable to have a cat.

I gained my Group 2 licence in 1985 and my Group 1 licence in 1988 while holding various positions within FASA as Secretary; Registrar; and President as well as show manager for FASA

and the Persian Breeders Cat Club for many years. I have been fortunate enough to judge throughout Australia during this time and have enjoyed meeting many gorgeous felines and their owners. In 2019 I completed the Group 3 course in order to be an All Breeds judge.

Marlene Chasemore - FCCV Like many people, I always had domestic pet cats as a child, but acquired my first Chinchilla when I was 26, which is what started my breeding and showing career. Under the Chinlea prefix, I bred my first cat in 1973. I have worked hard and continually since then to improve the type, nature, coat colour and eye colour of Chinchillas; success in which was measured by my winning Best Group 1 Kitten at the Royal Melbourne Show with a twelve week old Chinchilla kitten; a feat which I don't think has not been equalled since. This success was followed by my becoming involved in breeding solid colour Persians, in which I specialise. On the show bench, my stock has amassed a large number of Best in Show and Supreme Exhibit in Show awards, both within Victoria and in other Australian states. My cats, kittens and neuters have frequently been placed in finals of Cat of the Year in the FCC, being awarded Group 1 (Longhair) Kitten of the Year in 1995 and Desexed

Cat of the Year in 1996 and 1997 with Chinlea Zirconia.

From the outset, I was a member of the FCC Vic inc. I have held continual membership of the Pedigreed Persian Cat Club of Victoria inc. since 1973, am currently President of the club and have been Secretary over many years. I am a member of many other Victorian cat clubs. Show experience includes many times Show Manager for the Royal Melbourne Show, the FCC Open Show, for Pedigreed Persian and Melbourne Cat Clubs. For fourteen years I was a member of the FCC Committee, which administers the feline fancy for most of Victoria's members.

My many years experience as a card room and judges steward lead me to become a judge in 1981; specialising in Group 1, which includes Persians and other Longhair breeds. I regularly judge in different parts of Australia and New Zealand, together with my many local assignments. I was Assistant Group 1 Tutor Judge in 1989 and have been a member of the training panel for new stewards in the FCC. I enjoy open, talk–style shows, both as exhibitor and judge. I believe that when one takes up judging, it needs to be done with an open, impartial mind and with a knowledge of the standard. I enjoy judging, particularly encouraging new exhibitors and interacting with all exhibitors at open shows. I believe my continued breeding experience keeps me in touch with all aspects of judging.

Page 6: Co-ordinating Cat Council Of Australia 2020 National Cat Showshowentry.breedsite.com/files/shows/2020_CCCA_National...Tim has been judging since the year 2000. He breeds and shows

Margaret Osler – FCCV I purchased my first seal point Siamese cat in 1965.From there on I have owned and bred

Siamese, Orientals, Foreign Whites, Cornish and Devon Rex, Sphynx, British and Burmese.

I breed under the prefix of 'SYRECKS'. I have imported 4 Siamese cats from Hungary, over the years and also some from New Zealand to try and improve the bloodlines here in Australia.

I also breed Whippets and have bred poodles.

I was the secretary of the Rex CC of A'asia for 19 years, running well over 100 shows for many different clubs. I obtained my all Shorthair Judges Licence over 30 years ago and have judged in most parts of Australia and New Zealand. As well as Judging, I have been a tutor judge with the FCCV and examining and marking Judge for NSWCFA.

I am proud to be a member of the Feline Control Council Vic and CCCA.

Geoff Beckett - FCCV I attained my first judges' licence in 1974 (Group 2), British and Group 3 licence in the late 1970's and All Breeds status with a Group 1 licence in 1992. Surely this length on commitment is worth a

doctorate. I am a past president of the Shorthair Cat Club and have held many other positions on the management committee of that great Club and a past Chair of the FCCV Judges' Association. I have judged all over Australia (with the exception of NT) and have had so many repeat invitations that they are too numerous to keep track of and several appointments in NZ.

I have bred Siamese, British Shorthairs and an occasional Persian under the Barraby prefix in partnership with Colin Lavelle and Florris Hawkins. Although it has been many years since a cat

was bred under that prefix (1988).

I presently own a Chocolate Point Siamese, Anna, and just maybe, she will resurrect my breeding interest. Presently, I breed Cavalier and King Charles Spaniels and the Mornhaven spaniels have been enormously influential in southern Australia. I have a championship judging licence for the Toy Group and an Open Show licence for the Non–Sporting Group, so you can be sure I am always busy. I also have two young sons and a large garden. I sometimes fit in cats shows.

Cheryl Pollock - FCCV I became a member of the FCC in 1979 after purchasing my first pedigreed cat – a Blue

Colorpoint. I bred and showed successfully under the prefix 'Chryle' for approximately 15 years. During this time, I was an active member of the Pedigreed Persian Cat Club, serving in various positions on the committee.

This close involvement at the club level fuelled my interest in judging – and I completed my Group 1 license in 1990, and my group 3 license in 1993. I have judged in all states of Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia – this has helped me to broaden my outlook, experience and knowledge base, particularly in relation to various breed, quality and standards.

Although I no longer breed or show, I live with three Devon Rex, and three Boston Terriers. My love of animals also extends to my employment, for some 30 years I have worked, primarily in veterinary surgeries, grooming animals, specializing in cats. I expect my involvement with cats will be a lifelong interest.

Kerrith Wilkinson – FCCV Growing up we always had a pet cat that shared our home. This continues today with my pet Squirt, a black tabby rescue cat. He is a wonderful friend who brings much enjoyment to our family. I was introduced to the cat world as a teenager and began showing in 1979 with my first show cat, a Blue Tabby Point Siamese called Budaya Blue Charro.

I then fell in love with British Shorthairs and obtained my first Blue girl, Barraby Miss Tiggywinkle in 1982. I continued to show and breed British under the prefix Romsey. I had successes in the 1980’s, especially with a Blue British named Romsey Rum Tum Tugger.

I enjoyed learning all the aspects of showing from the paperwork, stewarding, running shows, and finally becoming a judge. As I didn’t like parting with my kittens, I stopped breeding and still enjoy cat shows by judging.

I am and have always been a member of the Feline Control Council of Victoria. Over the years I have been Vice President of Shorthair Cat Club and in the mid-1980's I was a member of the Yarra Valley Cat Club. I also assisted running the FCCV Feline Health Shows which raised funds for Feline

Health. I currently provide our ‘Focus on Felines’ Newsletter to the FCCV members, attend CCCA meetings, run Judge’s seminars and am a member of the FCCV Judge’s Committee and Breed’s Committee.

I became a Group 3 judge in 1990, gained my Group 2 licence in 2004 and my Group 1 licence in 2010 making me an all breeds judge. I am currently a CCCA All Breeds Tutor Judge and frequently judge for many clubs within Victoria, interstate and overseas.

I have met many lovely people over the years who I now call my friends. What I find most enjoyable is judging a well-loved feline who is happy to be on the show bench.

About the Co-ordinating Cat Council Of Australia The CCCA is a national body that was established in the late 1970s to address a need for unification among several of the largest cat control bodies in Australia. The CCCA Inc. now has affiliates in all states.

Together they support the national uniformity of policies for the conduct of shows, training and appointment of judges, registration of cats, definition of classes, and the awarding of championships. This standardisation allows exhibitors and breeders to show cats around Australia.

The stadium is conveniently located at 129-163 Main Hurstbridge Rd, Diamond Creek, between Diamond Creek East Primary School and Diamond Valley College.

The venue is a large, well-lit stadium. Diamond Creek is approximately 30-40 min from Melbourne Airport.

The 2020 CCCA National show welcomes all members of registering bodies recognised by CCCA. We also invite entries from ANCATS members with exhibits that have a pedigree that can be verified by our show secretary.

Judging at the show will follow the CCCA Rules and Regulations.

Page 8: Co-ordinating Cat Council Of Australia 2020 National Cat Showshowentry.breedsite.com/files/shows/2020_CCCA_National...Tim has been judging since the year 2000. He breeds and shows

Show Classes Kittens will be automatically entered in the appropriate age class and cats in the appropriate class by our show software. This will be checked against their pedigree certificate. Eligible titled exhibits will compete for CCCA Awards. Entry into the CCCA Class will be automatic based on whether an exhibit has a tiltle in the show software. This will be checked against their pedigree certificate. If your association does a title certificate rather than an updated pedigree please have that ready to send to the show secretary or request a pedigree update from your registrar.

Please have a photo or pdf of your exhibits pedigree ready to be uploaded when you enter the show. It is required to complete your online entry and must match your cat’s entry details.

Show Placings The show will be an exciting six rings over two days. There will be Top 15 placings for Groups 1 & 3 in each section, (entires, kittens and desexed) and Top 10 placings for Groups 2 & 4 in each section, (entires, kittens and desexed). Rosettes will be awarded to all Best and Reserve of Breed. All top place exhibits, best in group winners and supreme in group winners will receive quality rosettes and prizes.

If you would like to sponsor rosettes for the show there is a form at the end of the schedule.

The Overall Supreme Exhibit In Show will be determined in the following way. Each finals level will be judged initially by a judge or a panel of judges that have not judged in that section. The winner of each level will then move forward to be judged again then again to Supreme finals judging.

14. One (1) free pass will be issued to each owner, part owner or lessee. Theses passes are not transferable.

15. The CCCA will be most anxious for the care and safety of the cats and kittens brought to or sent for exhibition or any property entrusted to it, but it must be strictly understood by all exhibitors, and all other persons, that neither this body nor the Show Committee will not accept responsibility for the loss, damage or detention of any exhibit or any property, whether arising from accident or other cause by its officers, agents or any other person.

16. No cat or other animal, other than exhibits shall be allowed within the precincts of the exhibition for the duration of the show.

17. All exhibits must be brought to the hall in suitable baskets or containers. No Exhibit will be accepted if on a lead, wrapped in a towel etc.

18. No exhibit shall enter the hall if it has at any time during the period of (30) days immediately preceding the Show has been in a cattery affected with Feline Enteritis or any other contagious disease. If a cat is under treatment for any complaint, it should have a certificate from the attending veterinarian as to the contagious possibilities or otherwise. The certificate must be handed to the Show Veterinarian before examination. The Show Veterinarian’s decision will be final. People from an infected cattery will not be permitted to officiate at cat shows.

19. All exhibits must pass the Veterinarian inspection. Any duly qualified Veterinary Surgeon shall examine each cat, whether entered or exhibition only, and shall order any cat to be removed from the show if, in their opinion, it is suffering from any contagious disease or has external parasites. Their decision in this regard shall be final. Should the veterinarian reject one of an exhibitor’s cats or kittens, all the exhibitor’s entries may be rejected.

20. If during the course of the Show, an exhibit should be found to be ailing or distressed through any cause, the Show Manager may at his discretion request the exhibit to be removed from the hall.

24. Boxes, baskets etc. must be placed out of sight after the exhibit is benched.

25. Late arrivals will only be accepted at the discretion of the Show Manager but exhibits not in their cages when the judges are called to the floor will automatically be disqualified.

26. No cat or kitten may be removed from the vicinity of its cage without special permission of the Show Manager.

27. No exhibit shall be removed from the Hall before completion of prize giving without the permission of the Show Manager.

28. No award cards or ribbons, other than those won at the show, may be displayed.

29. All exhibits at CCCA shows are judged according to the Standards of the CCCA. No breed numbers will be used. All breeds and colours will be fully written.

30. The Breeds and Groups permitted at a CCCA show will be in accordance with the Standard Group at the time agreed to by the Affiliate bodies.

Colour classes. Challenge and award certificates will be awarded Best Male, Best Female, Best Neuter and Best Spay in each colour

(excepting AOC and Domestic exhibits or where special regulations apply) irrespective of the number of entries, provided that the exhibits reach the standard required by the judge

33. Challenge and Award of Merit Certificates awarded to Supplementary Register must be marked with the letters “SR”.

34. A Judges decision on the merit of an exhibit shall be final unless such decision is contrary to the rules under which the show is conducted. Judges shall be empowered and instructed not to award any prize; Challenge or Award of Merit to any exhibit which they consider is not of sufficient merit.

35. Any exhibit found to be under sedation will be disqualified.

36. UTH - Any cat that shows aggression towards people, especially any cat that bites or deliberately scratches someone, is automatically declared UNABLE TO BE HANDLED (UTH). There is to be no further judging on the day and a readable sign should be displayed on the cage and the owner notified. Any cat declared UTH is suspended from the show bench for 3 months. If the cat is declared UTH again it will be permanently disqualified for life, this is a minimum standard which individual member bodies may exceed.

UTJ - Any cat that is unable to be safely taken from the cage to the table and handled sufficiently to be judges is to be declared UNABLE TO BE JUDGED (UTJ) by the judge and no award is to be made. This is effective in that ring only, with no cumulative

effect towards disqualification.

37. Officiating judges may enter exhibits in competition providing they are only entered in sections which they are NOT officiating. Such judges are categorically excluded from conferring with judges of cats in sections in which they are exhibiting and from sitting on any panel, including Supreme Exhibit, in the event that the exhibit owned by them should be presented to such panels.

38 A judge shall not judge an exhibit which he/she directly or indirectly, alone or jointly with another, own or lease or which they have transferred to a new owner, judge that exhibit within 3 months of that transfer. An exhibit will be deemed to be subject of this regulation if it is an exhibit in which the Judge or Judge’s spouse or partner or children or parents and siblings have or have had a direct or indirect proprietary interest.

40. Each judge will submit his Best and Reserve Special Awards to the Show Management for submission to the panel judging Supreme and Reserve Supreme Exhibits. Panel judging may be used at the discretion of the Show Committee for any category, but

all decisions of the members of the panel must be by secret ballot.
