ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING RECAPCalgary Co-op held our 56th Annual General Meeting on March 13, 2012,

at the Carriage House Inn with 205 members and 32 guests in attendance.

During the meeting, two members brought forth resolutions for consideration.

Clint R. proposed that Calgary Co-op phase out the sale of eggs and pork

sourced from intensive confinement cages within the next three years and

that in the interim, Calgary Co-op work with suppliers to find alternatives not

sourced from these types of cages. Members Ron S. and Jeremy F. proposed

to amend the motion to five years after which the motion was passed.

The membership then passed a resolution by Gregory L. for Co-op News to

include timely information.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the results of the 2013 Director Election

were announced with Rick Smith and Elaine Smith elected to the Board

and Myra D’Souza Kormann being re-elected. They join our current

directors Terry Geib, Board Chair; Laura Sullivan, Vice Chair; Peggy LeSueur,

Board Secretary, Johanna Bates, Stuart Cantrill and Lisa Wise.

During the 2013 board year, management has been instructed by the board

to meet with our wholesaler, Federated Co-operatives Limited; associations,

producers and industry experts to determine an appropriate course of action

regarding the sale of caged eggs and pork. The Board will also be working on

the development of the director nominating process and other governance

work. A report on these will be provided at our 2013 Annual General Meeting.
