THE SRN TIMES
Dear SRN Family,
It gives me immense pleasure to showcase the success of my SRNians through this twentieth edition of the
SRN Times.
At SRN International School, technology and value based education is imparted to the students towards and
they are always sensitized towards the society and the environment.
Every month the school organizes various knowledge and learning based activities. It is a matter of pride for
us that our students exhibit respect for planet earth and conservation of natural resources. Students are
actively involved in various activities where they have taken steps like planting trees, watering trees and
helping birds and animals during extreme summers.
At SRN International School, we teach our students that determination, commitment and discipline are the
three pillars on which success stands. We empower them towards decision making, we teach them creative
ideation and we make them smarter by letting them play with technology. This makes us unique as we let
the children grow and realize their own inner potential.
I extend best wishes to all student, parents and valuable partners associated with the school and
hope that we all will think progressively towards the development of every single child, so that
every child positively contributes towards nation building.

Today is an age of modernism which is intertwined with traditions. Today children are learning through
technology yet at their homes, they learn to remain rooted in Indian values and traditions. With this view in
mind, SRN International School organizes various activities where students learn the values offered by the
Indian culture and also learn leadership skills on how to execute such events. Students, under the able
guidance of the teachers and the Prefectorial council learn skills like critical thinking and discipline. All
members of the SRN Fraternity, including the adorable students, their knowledge banks- the Gurus and
loving parents, work with a pledge towards determination and dedication and hence we will be able to

“Listening is the mother of all speaking!”
Hearing depends upon the ears, while listening uses the mind and eyes as well. Listening is a skill tends to
be untaught and untrained. Among many reasons for poor listening is the fact that speaking is more valued
than listening. There are four basic “Effective” listening styles:
1. Content Listening – Your job is to identify key points of the message, It does not matter whether you
agree/disagree- only that you understand.
2. Critical Listening - It is to evaluate the message at several levels and check the speaker‟s intention
and implication of the message.
3. Empathic Listening – The goal here is to understand the speaker‟s feelings, needs and wants in order
to solve a problem. Try not to judge.
4. Active Listening – The goal is to appreciate the other person‟s point of view, whether or not you
agree. It involves listening to what is said as well as what is not said.
For developing “Effective” listening skills there are six communication realities, we must follow.
Effective listening skills can be learned as good listeners are made, not born.
There has to be willingness to learn, you must be committed to your personal skill development.
Active listening must be practiced.
Time is an important tool; find time and opportunity to develop the skills.
How well you listen to others depends on your internal communication that determines whether you
will listen objectively or prejudicially.
Assess your listening abilities and find where your greatest problem lies and work on that area for
improving your listening skills.
The day when one listens not to reply but to understand, without any intention to judge but to cheer
liberty of expression, he/she turns out to be a great listener!!
Dear hard work,
I used to hate you. When you called my name, I preferred running away from you. When I knew you
were coming, I used to hide from you. When you influenced others to talk to me, I quickly made excuses
to avoid it all. Afraid of the pain because I didn't want to get hurt; afraid to fail. So I didn't even try. And
afraid of your name was the cause of what you've done to others. Who do you think you are? Making me
so afraid of who you are? My reflection in the mirror, my shadow on the ground. I take a step and you're
still ahead of me. It sweat on my face and tears in my eyes, I keep on going. You turned the poor to rich,
F to S. Is there anything you can't do? Now look at me, you made me who I am today. Because of you I
have this never losing never giving up attitude. When I tell them about my dreams, they laugh. But I
make sure I laugh at the last. I am a dream chaser of only my dreams. It's only me against me. There's no
losing. Oh hard work, it was all right about you. You do pay off. I am no longer hiding from you.
Listening & you!! By Geeta Bisht
A Letter to Hard Work By Pankhuri Verma (XII Comm.)
The most precious part of anyone's life is their school life but being a student from SRN INTERNATIONAL
SCHOOL is more than that. I took admission at Srn in 6th standard and spent seven beautiful years with
admiring people. I feel blessed to be a part of SRN as right from the beginning all I received is love and
support. Apart from the knowledge I have gained from the school, the school had also succeeded in
imparting moral and spiritual values to the students and to me. Principal ma'am was always a support system
for her students and is so affectionate. Her motivation had leaded to many students to path of success and so
I.
I had always been thankful to all the teachers who always cared and supported me from the roots. School
had always taught me to understand a big world outside and so directed me to lead a path with opportunities.
