COMMON MISCONCEPTION

What are you going to do after college? Parents that send their children to any level of higher

learning after high school frequently ask the question above. With Communications majors/ minors the fear constantly

arises among parents of those students concerning whether or not the background in this field will be useful and of course whether or not their child will make a significant amount of money through a successful career.

Well fear not Mom and Dad! Though a path in Communications is not commonly thought of when picturing money-making careers, there are plenty of reasons a degree in this field is useful.

IF THAT DOESN’T CONVINCE YOU, ASK A PROFESSIONAL!

“"Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service attitude are required skills" is a key listing in all job descriptions.  Basically employers want you to communicate clearly in emails and presentations, understand what you are talking about, and work well with others.  Most of today's jobs require you to work in teams and across divisions so communication is essential there.”
