Last week five and a half teams played six rounds. Tight points scoring led to a play-off for second place. Eric, the half team, made the front running in match play but had to beat Jim in a play-off for Men’s high score. And speaking of high scores we’re surprised someone had the nerve to claim the ladies’ high score with only one over the qualifying mark. But then, that’s Michele for you!

Sessions will be held on 27 November, 4, 11 and 18 December all of which are opportunities for you to see if you like us before we take a break for Christmas and the New Year. Meet with us in the Sports Lounge from 7:45 on Friday evenings.

Congratulations to Joe Sciberras from the Fishing Club on being named Sportsperson of the Year at last Saturday’s Presentation Night and also to Joe Caccavo on being nominated from the Outdoor Bowls Sports Club for Sportsperson of the Year.

The Outdoor Bowls Xmas Party will be held on Saturday the 5th December commencing at 6.30pm at Club Burwood, tickets can be purchased from Barry Remmington.

The Outdoor Bowls AGM is being held on Wednesday 9th December. All papers including Notice, Agenda and the minutes of the previous AGM have now been circulated by mail. All those members intending to nominate for Committee in 2016 forms are available from the front desk at Club Burwood RSL.

Last Saturday the Sports Club Presentation Night was held, we were treated to a great meal and fantastic entertainment afterwards. Firstly, I would like to express my sincere thank you to the Board of Directors for hosting this wonderful and enjoyable event. I would also like to congratulate Colin Sheehan, Paul Pearson, Ines Buffo, Anna Scamuffo, Maria Tilocca and all other Club members who were nominated with a trophy, certificate or prize money. Congratulations to the over 50 Year Memberships, well done. Also, thank you to the staff for the great service.

Last Thursday was the social night. As usual it was a happy and entertaining night. The winning team was Alf, Emilia, Maria Cat and Antonino, well done.

Last Monday we completed the Jack Prosser Competition, they were 10 weeks of enjoyable and exciting games. On behalf of the members we wish to congratulate Alessio Parisotto, Margaret Delmedico and Antonino Costanzo for achieving 139 points. They deserved this great win, well done team. We now play social bowls until we break up for the Christmas festivities.

Members, on Sunday 6th December the Indoor Bowls Christmas Dinner will be held. Cost for members is $10 and guest $45 – this price includes food and drinks. Please add your name on the notice board by Thursday 26th November and have a good evening.

Last Thursday’s 19/11/2015 social handicap snooker competition semi finals were made up of the inform players except for a newbie Wayne Comber. Wayne came up against the consistent Warren who was to good for Wayne this time. Ranadheer played a good match to defeat the always dangerous Roger. The final was a beauty with Warren beating Randaheer on the black ball. Members wishing to take part in our friendly Thursday night social handicap snooker competition can do so by going down to the Burwood R.S.L sport’s bar prior to 7.15 pm & have your name placed on the list & for only $ 2 you can vie for the wish cards. Late comers are reminded they may miss out once the draw has been done. So members please be on time as it makes it a lot easier for who ever is running the comp.

Busy times ahead for the Burwood R.S.L snooker club members with a number of events planned over the next few weeks. On Sunday the 6th December 2015 the N.S.W R.S.L Billiards & Snooker Association will be holding their Christmas dinner & presentation day starting at noon at Bass Hill R.S.L.Burwood snooker club members who represented the club in the N.S.W R.S.L teams snooker or billiards competition are urged to attend to see the boyz lift the trophies aloft. If any member would like to attend please see Col Sheehan for more information as Col will have to pass a list of the proposed attendees A.S.A.P so he can pass it on to the Association. On Thursday 10/12/2015 the snooker club will be playing Kelly pool for 3 half hams & vouchers. The snooker club Christmas dinner will be held on Friday 11/12/2015 in the restaurant area of Burwood R.S.L starting at 6 p.m. Snooker club members are reminded that the snooker club A.G.M will be held on Thursday 17/12/2015.
