Birth Date Certificate This document provides instructions on how to create a birth certificate on the Canadian Livestock Tracking System (CLTS). Before creating a birth certificate a birth date event must be successfully submitted. Click here for instructions on how to submit a birth date event. If you have purchased animals that are age verified, you can create a birth certificate using their CCIA tag numbers and the birth date information will be retrieved. FAQ’s about Birth Dates Q: What is age verification and how do I age verify my animals? A: Age verification is associating a birth date with an animal that was born on your farm and tagged with a CCIA RFID button tag. To age verify, you must set up and activate an account on the CLTS website, please contact the CCIA to do so. (Call Centre 1-877-909-2333) If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, you can have a third party such as a neighbor, relative, or local veterinary office submit your information to the CLTS. If you are in Alberta you can contact your local Mobile Field Representative. For a list of representatives, please click here. 20. Birth Date Certificate

This document provides instructions on how to create a birth certificate on the Canadian Livestock Tracking System (CLTS). Creating a Birth Date Certificate

1. Please go to www.clia.livestockid.ca. Enter your Username and Password, and then click Login.

2. On the home screen there are two ways to begin creating a Birth Date Certificate.

a. Go the heading Certificate/Manifest and click Birth Date Certificate from the drop down menu. b. Click Birth Date Certificate under the Certificate/Manifest heading.

3. There are six options to choose from to add tags to your list. All of the options can be used to create your list, but only one option can be used at a time.

Note: Do not put spaces, dashes or slashes between the numbers.

a. Single tag- Enter the last 9 digits of the CCIA tag number in the field provided and then click Add Tags to List.

b. Tag Range- Enter the lowest number of the tag range in the field beside Range Start. Enter the highest number of the tag range in the field beside Range End and then click Add Tags to List.

c. Tag Range with Quantity- Enter the lowest number of the tag range in the field beside Range Start. Enter the quantity of tags used in the with Quantity field and then click Add Tags to List.

d. Transaction ID: Enter a transaction ID in the field provided and then click Add Tags to List.

Note: The transaction ID does not need to be from a birth date transaction.

e. Birth Certificate ID: Enter a birth certificate ID from a previously created birth certificate in the field provided and then click Add Tags to List.

Note: You can only use ID’s from birth certificates you have created using your account.

f. Spreadsheet File- to use this option you must create a spreadsheet using Microsoft Office, OpenOffice or NeoOffice. You can download the latest versions of Open Office or Neo Office for free from the internet. Click here to visit the System Setup tab on the CCIA Resource Centre to access links to the software websites.

i. Open a blank spreadsheet; enter the heading Tag_Start in column A row 1, and then enter your tag list in the cells below.

ii. Save the worksheet. Note: It is recommended to change the file name to something familiar such as “Tag List 2014”.

Note: Be sure to use only alphanumeric characters (the letters of the alphabet A to Z or numbers 0 to 9); do not use punctuation or symbols (e.g. @!$?).

iii. Return to the Submit Events: Animal/Tag Selection screen and click Browse to find the file you created.

iv. When the pop-up window appears, find and select the file you created so that it shows in the File name text box and then click Open.

v. Once the file appears in the text box, click Add Tags to List.

4. The tag number(s) will appear at the bottom of the screen under the heading List of Tags to include in the Birth Date Certificate, with the word Add in front of it/them. Continue to add tags’ using the methods in step 3 until your list is complete.

5. To remove an unwanted tag from the list, type the tag number in the first blank field and then click Remove Tags from List.

6. The tag number will appear again at the bottom of the screen with the word Remove in front of it. Repeat this as many times as necessary. Note: To remove a tag range, use the second option and follow the same instructions.

7. Continue to add or remove tags until the list is complete and then click Next.

8. On the Create Birth Certificate: Confirmation screen, review the list of tags shown to ensure all tags entered in the previous step appear.

a. If you need to make any changes click Back and you will return to the previous screen where you can add or remove tags. b. If the information is correct, click Create Certificate.

Note: Tags will be listed in sequential order and will be grouped into ranges on this screen.

9. A new window/tab will open showing the Birth Date Certificate in PDF format. Alternatively, you can view the certificate by clicking one of the View Options from the details screen. Note: You must have your browsers pop-up blocker disabled for the certificate to appear automatically.

10. The official CCIA Birth Certificate appears as below. Confirm that the birth date appears in the Birth Date column. An empty column means there was no birth date information available in the CLTS.

Sign and date the lower part of the certificate before providing to the purchaser.
