ALAN SPEEDWhen it comes to volunteering, Alan Speed a has goodhead on his shoulders. In fact, the head on his shoulders isusually made of papier mâché and weighs about 20pounds! We are talking, of course, about a ParadeCompany Big Head! Wearing a Big Head is one of Alan’sfavorite things to do at the Parade Company, with dressingas our company mascot, Clownie, coming in a closesecond.“I love the Big Heads and Clownie,” said Alan. “My favoriteBig Head is Father Cunningham. I get to be FatherCunningham at the Focus:HOPE event, and I love it. Bigkids and little kids come up to me and take pictures! Itmakes them smile and it makes me smile too.”
Alan has been a volunteer for three years. During that time,he has signed up to help in almost every volunteer area –except sewing. Alan helps paint floats, clean the studio, greet tour guests, work events, march in the Parade, wearBig Heads and perform as Clownie. Whew! That’s a lot, butAlan says he loves to volunteer and will do whatever isneeded. Who knows … maybe one day he’ll take upsewing? We are so grateful to have superstar volunteers like Alan. That’s why we are pleased to feature Alan Speed as ourVolunteer Spotlight!
