“IT and Technology had always peeked my interest from a very young age, although my attention has been diverted several times as a result of my interest through my love for fast cars and washing machine repair documentaries. Although my attentions may have been diverted, anything but IT was always a dream since all I used to read was Cisco magazines.

I have maintained that it was a datacentre where I was born and raised, near ESXi servers was where I spent most of my days. Having worked for some very large businesses on some very high profile projects, I came across some very exciting projects by Accesspoint, which I wanted, nay had to be a part of.”

Dates for the Diary

“From a young age I have always had a keen interest in technology and how it has advanced for both my personal and business use, thereafter a career in it made sense.

Nearly 5 years ago, I heard about a new start up IT firm specialising in, and solely focusing on, the legal sector. Over this period, I had been noting the progress, not in so much that they would be a direct rival to the company I was working for, but rather an interest as I have family members who also work in the legal sector.

Having seen the pride, dedication and passion that Accesspoint have, it made me feel that they were the kind of company I wanted to work for and also brag about”. May the obsession live long!

NEW STARTER - AARON WALBY (Business Development Executive)

London-based Dawson Cornwell, established in 1972, is one of the UK’s leading firms specialising in family and children’s law. With around 50 users, they recently became one of Accesspoint’s clients. The firm acts for clients both in the UK and internationally, advising on all areas of family and children’s law, including the creation of alternative family structures and surrogacy law. Its specialist children’s department is internationally renowned for its lawyers’ expertise in cross-jurisdictional divorce and children cases. Unlike other niche family law practices, the firm also advises on buying and selling properties and on wills, estates, trusts and related tax issues. Dawson Cornwell’s server hardware platform and helpdesk were managed in-house. The servers were fast approaching end-of-life with practical limitations on their expansion capacity. This, coupled with a decision to involve the IT Department in more business-focused projects, prompted the firm to consider adopting hosted technology. A significant factor in the choice of platform was the ability to strengthen Dawson Cornwell’s position with backup and disaster recovery (DR). The original tape-based solution was impractical and complicated by the fact that a complete backup set exceeded the capacity of a tape. Other important factors were the fixed costs and flexible user licensing as well as the outsourcing of the helpdesk facility. Dawson Cornwell opted for a part managed, fully hosted solution utilising Accesspoint’s hardware infrastructure with a bolt-on on-site DR option.
