He announced that there will be more parent, student, and community partner meetings in the coming weeks. He is hoping to be as inclusive in these conversations as possible to gather information to make the necessary adjustments to make these experiences the best they can possibly be. He asked the teachers to do the best they can do and to try new things to be innovative, creative, and to create new opportunities and experiences for our students. He

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Superintendent Almendarez shared that it is the second day back for staff and staff development is beingprovided for both classified and certificated employees. He assured staff that everyone is working hard to dothe best they can do with the tools and trainings that they have. The Board of Education has made it apriority to make sure that when everyone comes back, they do so in a safe environment.Superintendent thanked the parents for their patience. He encouraged parents to download the ParentSquare application for information on meal distribution. He shared that ideally the best way to educatestudents is in person but COVID-19 rates are still too high in Santa Ana. He announced that there will bemore parent, student, and community partner meetings in the coming weeks. He is hoping to be as inclusivein these conversations as possible to gather information to make the necessary adjustments to make theseexperiences the best they can possibly be. He asked the teachers to do the best they can do and to try newthings to be innovative, creative, and to create new opportunities and experiences for our students. He

encouraged them to reach out to colleagues within their school site, across the district, or respectivenetworks. He also encouraged everyone to get on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Superintendentthanked all administrators for working hard on the schedules and the executive cabinet for working tirelesslyto make sure everyone is ready for the beginning of the school year.

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS Dr. Rodriguez asked Ms. Quiroz if there was anyone wishing to address the Board. There was one requestsubmitted but was not able to connect. There were two emails sent to the Office of the Superintendentrelated to meal distribution. Dr. Rodriguez asked Ms. Quiroz to read the emails out loud.

Mr. Roychowdhury presented to the Board the 45-Day Budget Revision and provided a financial report and highlighted major changes that have occurred since budget adoption. He also provided an update on the financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

BEHAVIOR ANALYST

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Special Education/SELPA and/or designee,

provide consultation, support, and advisory services to District personnel regarding the planning,

designing and monitoring of the implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports for

students with behavior needs that are receiving special education and related services through an

Individualized Education Program (IEP). Provide training and support in appropriate behavior

intervention and management techniques, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), data collection and

analysis, and support strategies.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Adhere to the federal and state laws that apply to behavioral assessments, interventions,

requirements, and regulations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). E

• Promote and support a team approach in behavior support planning and implementation

among the school community, teachers, other support staff, and parents. E

• Consult and/or collaborate with school site personnel, including school psychologists, to

conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), as appropriate. E

• Consult and/or collaborate with school site personnel, including school psychologists, to

develop comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), as appropriate. E

• Consult and/or collaborate with school site personnel (including but not limited to classroom

teachers, school psychologists, instructional aides, student support paraprofessionals, related

service providers, and other staff) on collecting and analyzing behavioral data guiding

decisions regarding positive behavior interventions and supports for school systems,

classrooms, and students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). E

• Consult with school site personnel on the implementation of individualized Behavior

Intervention Plans (BIPs). E

• Consult with site administrators, school psychologists, teachers, and other related service

providers in developing, monitoring, and evaluating behavior management strategies for

students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). E

• Provide training, direct observation, and feedback to behavior support providers who may be

temporarily assisting in the implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports

within classroom settings.

recommended for particular students or classrooms. E

• Develop and provide professional development for district personnel in areas related to

applied behavior analysis (ABA); behavior management strategies; and the federal and state

laws regarding behavioral assessments, interventions, requirements, and regulations for

students with Individualized Education Programs (IEP). E

• Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and help contribute to goal and

service recommendations, as needed. E

• Provide data collection support to behavior support providers (i.e., data sheets, data entry,

graphical analysis, material creation). E

• Collect, synthesize, and analyze behavioral data and program summaries for students

receiving behavioral support services. E

• Assist school site personnel during student behavioral emergencies, as appropriate. E

• Provide Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) related supervision to school teams,

including staff training/coaching, program development, data analysis, and student summary

reports. E

• Collaboration with in-home behavioral support services through community agencies (i.e.,

Regional Center vendors, insurance providers) to promote coordination of care for students

with behavior services. E

• Perform other related duties as assigned. E

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

• The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), California special education

regulations, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and District special education

policies and procedures.

• Characteristics of various special education eligibilities, and possible social, emotional or

behavioral manifestations of specific disabilities.

• Principles of behavioral management and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Any combination equivalent to a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in special

education, behavior analysis, and/or psychology and at least three (3) years of successful experience

providing full-time public school certificated service in special education or working with individuals

with disabilities within the specialized field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with increasing

levels of responsibility.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid California Education Specialist, Pupil Personnel Services, or Speech Language

Pathology credential.

• Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.

• Must be able to become certified by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) in non-violent

crisis intervention.

• Valid California driver's license.

(AT)/AUGMENTATIVE ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION (AAC)

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Special Education and/or a Coordinator of Special Education Services, conducts assistive technology (AT) and/or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessments and supports Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams in identifying, recommending, and implementing appropriate AT and/or AAC services in a variety of educational settings to meet the individual needs of students.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

● Conduct AT/AAC assessment within the defined special education timelines to determine if any devices and/or programs are needed for students with disabilities to access the curriculum. E

● Prepare legally defensible written reports of AT/AAC assessment findings with recommendations for training, consultation, and/or direct services. E

● Prepare, interpret, and present written assessment reports, Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance, Annual Goals and Short-Term Objectives at IEP meetings. E

● Document student progress toward achievement on Annual Goals and Short-Term Objectives and report via Progress Reports to parents. E

● Attend and participate in IEP meetings, as necessary. E

● Knowledge of Special Education policies and procedures pertaining to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). E

● Evaluate the needs of students with disabilities for and, if needed, recommend, design, and adjust AT/AAC systems and/or technology, hardware, peripherals, and/or specialized software. E

● Locate and assemble necessary information for the purchase of recommended AT/AAC devices, software, etc. E

● Repairs assistive devices and peripherals and installs software for the purpose of

maintaining computers and related equipment in a safe and functioning operating

condition. E

● Match the student's communication needs with appropriate AAC strategies and devices,

considering ability levels, preferences, cultural and linguistic differences, and coexistence of other AT/ AAC devices. E

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must hold a Speech-Pathology Services Credential or California Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential. Any combination equivalent to a Master's degree or higher in communicative disorders and/or speech or language pathology from an accredited college or university plus education background which qualifies applicant for credential as Speech-Language Pathologist with advanced training in the areas of educational assistive technology and augmentative/alternative communication to include an Assistive Technology Certificate. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

● Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or California Clinical

Rehabilitative Services Credential. ● Assistive Technology Certificate from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (continued)

● Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) is highly desirable.

● Valid license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board is highly desirable.

● Must possess a valid California driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

● Bilingual (Spanish/English) is desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

ENVIRONMENT:

● Indoor and outdoor work environment. ● Driving a vehicle to conduct work. ● Potential exposure to students who may exhibit verbal or physical aggressive

behavior.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

● Hearing and speaking accurately to exchange information and make presentations. ● Seeing to read a variety of materials, drive a vehicle, and assess student

performance. ● Sitting, standing or walking for periods of time to observe students, conduct

assessments, and implement a variety of instructional supports and services. ● Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office, assistive technology, and

augmentative and alternative communication equipment and materials. ● Lifting or moving objects, normally not exceeding twenty (20) pounds. ● Carrying, pushing, or lifting classroom, instructional, and office equipment and

supplies. ● Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching.
