Regener-Eyes ® is dedicated to Louise Harrell. She was a mother who told her young son that he could make

the impossible possible, and he believed it.

The Story of Regener-Eyes® Regener-Eyes® started from humble beginnings.

A young boy in a small town in America wanted to help his mother, who was in pain. He went with her to multiple doctors and rheumatologists and autoimmune specialists who could not even make a diagnosis, let alone give any significant treatment or help.

In 1980, the term Mixed Connective Tissue Disease was introduced. However, the 'eureka' moment for this young boy was that stress and chronic inflammation was responsible for not only his mother's problem but many people with chronic diseases that affect every part of the body.

He started his career as a research scientist with Emory University, studying immunology. After medical school, he was recruited by Dr. Michael E DeBakey, father of cardiovascular surgery at the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Dr. DeBakey fostered this young doctor’s interest in how the body, with help, could regenerate itself.

Even before the name Regenerative Medicine was recognized, this doctor was a pioneer. One of the first fields that fascinated him was ocular. He was shocked to learn that 340 million people suffer from dry eyes. Like his experiences with his mother, the diagnosis is difficult to make, the cause is not completely agreed upon, and there is no cure, with less than optimal treatments.

He started to research the most common cause of dry eyes, which is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). The term Meibomian Gland Degeneration was coined to emphasize how the degeneration of these glands decreases the lipid layer of the tear film and causes evaporation loss and dry eyes. The word degeneration causes one to realize that whatever degenerates can regenerate, and he set out to prove that.

He coined the term Meibomian Gland Regeneration (MGR), which has the potential to rejuvenate the glands and increase lipid production to help decrease the symptoms of dry eyes. Thus patented Sterile d-MAPPS™ (Sterile Derived Multiple Allogeneic Proteins Paracrine Signaling) was invented. This is how Re-gener-Eyes® is derived.

A lot of words for a simple eye drop that has the potential to be more powerful than just a 'wetting' agent for the eyes. This book gives voice to the thousands of people whose lives have been improved with Regener-Eyes®.

What is it?

The science of regenerative medicine focuses on stimulating the body’s own natural ability to heal and regenerate. Regener-Eyes® Ophthalmic Solution may offer hope to many patients. Regener-Eyes® Clinical Results

The SPEED (Standard Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness) Questionnaire is a validated survey rating frequency and severity of symptoms such as dryness, grittiness, scratchi-ness, soreness, irritation, burning, watering, and eye fatigue.

Scores range from 0 - 28, with 28 being the most severe. The lower the score, the better.

57 patients were followed over a 6 month period. Within 3 months, there was an almost 60% reduction in the severity of their symptoms.

By the 6th month, there was an almost 64% reduction.

Regener-Eyes® Clinical Results

The VAS (Visual Analog Scale) Severity Dry Eye Score, which is standard and validated, rates the overall dry eye symptoms on a scale from 0-10, with 10 being the most severe (the lower the score the better).

57 patients were followed over a 6 month period. Within 3 months, there was an average of almost 53% decrease in the severity of their symptoms.

By the 6th month, there was a little over 59% decrease in se-verity.

Robin Brean I have suffered with Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome for 15 years. I am the general manager of two railroads. The time I spend at my desk on a computer is basically 365 days a year, averaging 12-hour days.

Emily S. Matheny My mother is 93 years old. In December 2016 she developed Bells Palsy and as a result sus-tained damage to her corneas that was exacerbat-ed by dry eye syndrome. Her eyes were often filled with ‘crud’ and over a period of several months, she went from reading a book a week, the newspaper,

and various magazines to virtual blindness. This was very discouraging.

Her optometrist sent her to a cornea specialist who prescribed Xiidra. After some initial improvement, her eyes [regressed] again.

Patients with Blepharitis

Michael Cerullo I have been using Regener-Eyes® for about 15 months and highly recommend them for dry eye syndrome.

My dry eye problems started after undergoing 2 cataract surgeries. I have MGD, blepharitis, and

ocular rosacea.

My symptoms have progressed from mild dry eye to somewhat severe dry eye. Before starting Regener-Eyes® drops, my dry eye symptoms were in the moderately severe category [and I have experienced] about a 50% decline in my dry eye symptoms since starting Regener-Eyes® drops.

[They are] definitely better than Rx drops, like Restasis, which made my dry eye symptoms much worse and as my optometrist stated my eyes “were inflamed and on fire.” Regener-Eyes® drops are definitely the best of anything I have ever used.

Joane Tait I suffer from chronic dry eye. I, like others, have tried everything including Restasis and Xiidra and had side effects with Xiidra. I have glaucoma in both eyes and fortunately have an excellent doctor here in Maine who have not given up on me.

Steven Thorne My lid margin inflammation (posterior blepharitis) is so bad that I take oral steroids to control the inflam-mation. But even with oral steroids - 5 mg. of pred-nisone each day - I still have telangiectasia that is visible across my eyelid margins.

Patients with Sjogren’s syndrome

Judy Ressler I have severely dry eyes due to Sjogren's Syn-drome, laser surgery, menopause and the dry environment of living in Arizona.

I have tried Restasis and Xidra, but didn't really notice any improvement. I could not be in a room

with an overhead fan.

My ophthalmologist stays on top of new developments to help dry eyes, and recommended I try Regener-Eyes® .

After many years of difficulties, and the fear of eventually losing my eyesight, I now finally have a product that makes my eyes feel moist and normal.

We are in the beginning stages, and I have only used two drops a day so far, and my eye doctor said my moisture level and eye condition are the best he's seen in my eyes using ANY drops. More improvement is expected using 4 drops a day.

Teresa Acacia-Carara I have extreme dry eyes due to Sjogren’s Syndrome.

I was at the point I could not see. I started to see a dry eye specialist and found out my cornea was damaged.

Patients with Recurrent Corneal Erosion

Nancy Dee I am a very long term dry eye and recurrent corneal erosion sufferer, and I, like many other people… had tried everything for relief of my chronic, severe dry eye.

I had no relief from either Restasis or Xiidra, and I had been using serum tears for almost a decade.

My dry eye specialist in Boston suggested I try Regener-Eyes® . I used them twice a day, along with my serum tears, for about 7 months. I did not notice a dramatic difference right away, and I almost stopped using the Regener-Eyes® several times. But I [stuck] with them for at least a year, and I am so happy that I did.

I have now been completely off the serum tears for 5 months, and I only need one drop of Regener-Eyes® per day, with some supplementation with over the counter drops.

When I went to see my eye specialist last month, she was amazed to see that the insides of my upper eyelids, which had been severely abnormal and scarred, and which she felt had accounted for much of my eye dis-comfort, were dramatically improved (her estimate was 80%.)

Patients with Keratitis

Doreen Schleifer I have severely dry eyes as well as a host of other eye diseases, including Fuchs Dystrophy, Sjjorgens, Blephritis, Uveitis and Keratitis as well as over 15 surgeries. I tried Restasis (7 years) - nothing, Xiidra - little improvement and we discov-ered I am allergic to it. I even use Serum tears

which give momentary relief. My eyes were uncomfortable on a good day.

Anna There was just this world of pain. People think of sight being very important and it is, but not having to live with the pain is important also. This is what we've been praying for. Regener-Eyes® is gold.

About Neuropathic Eye Pain* Ocular neuropathic pain, also referred to as corneal neuropathic pain, is a condition where corneal pain is seen in response to

normally non-painful stimuli. This results from repeated direct damage to corneal nerves.

Corneal neuropathic pain negatively impacts the quality of life of patients. The unpleasant and often severe sensation of pain, light sensitivity, irritation results in impaired functioning and inability to perform activities of daily living; including reading, driving and working. The impact on physical and social functioning can be debilitating. This condition is being increasingly recognized in patients with chronic dry eye syndrome who don’t seem to respond to conventional dry eye treatment and whose severity of symptoms seem disproportionate to clinical examination.

Associated symptoms of anxiety and depression also dramatically affect quality of life and in extreme cases can even lead to induction of suicidal thoughts. Due to relatively recent recognition of the problem, poorly understood underlying mechanisms and no signs on slit lamp examination, these symptoms of pain are often unfortunately ignored by ophthalmologists.

Patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction

Tambrance Huisinga Dry eye grabbed my attention and made my life miserable. I am being treated for severe dry eye, with reduced tear retention, reduced lipid layer, and severe Meibomian gland deterioration.

I’ve tried every OTC eye product carried by the drugstores, compresses, fish oil, blinking exercises, lid scrubs, steroid drops, protective eyewear… etc. I have used Xiidra, autologous serum eyedrops, and a product called Regener-Eyes® .

Patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction

Jodi Moon Swan I had LASIK surgery done about 10 years ago and over time have developed MGD with resulting dry eyes and blurry vision. Tried every drop known to man and a procedure called Lipiflow with zero results. My doctor finally went to the tried-and-true and prescribed Regener-Eyes® . I am getting my

vision back. Within two weeks I was able to find my golf ball and watch the planes take off from an Air Force Base nearby. Quite a difference for a girl who thought she might be losing her driver's license because I couldn't see well enough.

Kelly Knight I have been living with MGD, dry eyes, and eye allergies for 3 years. Kerrie McKay I have suffered with severe dry eye and Meibomian Gland dysfunction for over 8 years.

I have seen countless specialists across the coun-try. I have tried more drops than I care to mention including many years of steroids (which induced

cataracts). I recently tried Xiidra and [experienced] side effects and felt I had no other options.

I was visiting my specialist in Boston and he told me about Regener-Eyes®. Keep in mind, this specialist literally knows EVERYTHING and is very leery about prescription eye drops. He sees some of the most extreme cases of dry eye around the country (and world) and said he has seen great results with Regener-Eyes®.

I knew that if he recommended it, it was definitely worth trying. In the three years I've seen him, he's never recommended a drop, aside from specific re-wetting drops.

I can say that I have only been on Regener-Eyes® for 7 weeks and I am definitely feeling and seeing a true difference. I feel less burning, have less inflammation (eyes are less red in the morning) less overall dryness and I'm using less drops throughout the day.
