Module Coordinators: Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam Indicative Work Load: 56 hours Duration: 2 weeks Language of Instruction: English Application Deadline: February 6, 2015
Course Objective
The course aims to enable participants to:
1) recognize climate change impacts in
developing and developed cities and
the linkages of climate change with
development goals and resilience;
2) acquire skills to characterize the
different ways in which cities are
mitigating their exposure to climate
change or adapting to its impacts;
and

planning for climate change through
targeted exercises in diverse city
contexts.
At the end of the course, participants should
be able to describe and reflect critically on
the concepts of climate resilience,
vulnerability and adaptation. They will
develop analytical understanding of the
planning for climate change cycle, of
strategies for urban climate resilience, and
climate resilient development pathways.
Participants should be able to distinguish
and analyze the causes of vulnerability in
diverse city contexts and identify and
prioritize adaptation actions.
