PROJECT EXAMPLES
Impact of Climate Change on London’s Transport Systems, Transport for LondonWe conducted a study to assess the impact of climate change according to various scenarios, and made recommendations for adaptation measures that could be taken for each type of impact.
Rail Resilience to Space Weather, UK Department for Transport We identified the components of the rail network that are potentially vulnerable to a severe space weather event. Space weather types were characterised in terms of their intensity, frequency and extent. Rail technologies and systems where then identified and classified according to their level of vulnerability and the potential for significant business or safety risks.
Water Resource Planning under Climate Change Uncertainty, Thames WaterWe provided a strategic assessment of the options for managing climate change uncertainties on the water resource supply-demand balance of the London Water Resource Zone. The assessment informed Thames Water’s operation and planning decision-making and national guidance for building resilience in the sector.
Climate Change Adaptation and Resilient Cities, European Investment BankWe supported municipalities in Bologna (Italy) and Newcastle upon Tyne (UK) to assess the climate resilience of urban investment programmes and identify costed climate change adaptation options to enhance resilience of the cities. We also worked with the EIB to estimate the potential level of climate ‘adaptation’ finance associated with the measures identified.

PROJECT EXAMPLES
Future Proofing Lagos, UK Government Department for International Development and Lagos State Electricity BoardWe applied a “Future Proofing Cities” framework to identify and prioritise practical actions to enable Lagos state stakeholders to make progress in addressing the energy needs of the city. The project team prepared an assessment of Lagos’s performance in relation to the energy sector, incorporating a review of existing infrastructure and energy policy. The analysis concluded with a set of policy and project recommendations that address gaps preventing Lagos from meeting its development goals.
Climate Safeguard System, African Development BankIn partnership with the Global Climate Adaptation Partnership (GCAP) we developed the pioneering Climate Safeguards System, a set of decision-making tools and guides, to enable AfDB to screen projects for climate change risks and identify appropriate adaptation measures to reduce project vulnerability.

Sustainable Energy for All, European Union We are leading the Technical Assistance Facility to support East and Southern African countries improve their policy and regulatory framework, enabling increased investment in energy access, renewable energy andenergy technical capacity for sector efficiency.
Climate/Environmental Risk and FinanceManagement System, European Investment Bank We have developed a comprehensive and integrated climate and biodiversity risk management and finance tracking system for EIB. We are also supporting EIB in screening its projects for climate risks as well as identifying climate action and finance.
