Rosebrook Pools is a name that is synonymous with quality swimming pools in the Midwest. Founded over 70 years ago in Libertyville, Illinois, Rosebrook has been owned and operated by the Ori family since its inception. The company is now managed by the third generation of

Ori’s. Jamison, Jona, Jason, Lynsey, and their mother Lynn handle all phases of the company’s operations. Rosebrook has received numerous industry awards and is a member of the Genesis Design Group as well as the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals. Among the many industry awards the company has received, the Ori’s are proud to have been selected to the prestigious Pool & Spa News Top 50 Builders List for the last four years in a row. The honor can be attributed to a number of factors, but the most important would have to be that the company doesn’t sub contract out a single service. They complete everything in-house with a single point of contact between the customer and the company. They also have a strong focus on quality over quantity. This is extremely

evident in their finished product and the longstanding relationships they’ve developed over the years. Rosebrook is continually sought out by the top custom home builders, landscape design firms, architects, and engineers in the Midwest. We caught up with Lynsey, the Chief Operating Officer a few weeks ago. She is the liaison between every Rosebrook customer and her brothers Jona, Jamison, and Jason. The brothers handle design, construction and service. In Lynsey’s role as COO she is intricately involved with each customer from the permitting process to material selections and purchasing. Seven years ago the company began purchasing and using CL Industries’ quartz pool finishes. Lynsey says her customers love the water color options CL Industries’ finishes provide. Integrating CL Industries’ products into Rosebrook’s design and construction phases has been nearly seamless and the company praises the ease of application, great color options, and low maintenance. The top choices have been Krystalkrete Ebony, French Gray, and Super Blue.

Lynsey is and avid traveler and notes she is inspired by what the Earth has to offer in terms of natural water colors. She channels that inspiration into her designs and gets an amazing sense of accomplishment when they are brought to life for her customers. Most of Rosebrook’s customers have an idea of what they want their pools to look like, and having the ability to execute that vision with the water colors CL Industries’ finishes provide is highly beneficial.

We recently had the opportunity to visit several of Rosebrook’s creations. The consensus among the homeowners was an overwhelmingly satisfying experience.

The second most frequently asked question from

our customers is, “How is a particular finish going to

feel?” Our pool finishes provide varying degrees of

texture, from light to medium and ultra smooth. Our

finishes are divided into three distinct categories;

Quartz, Pebble, and Polished Marble. Texture is

primarily determined by the type, shape and size of

the aggregates in the finish. The general rule of thumb

is the smaller the aggregate the smoother the finish.

Pebble finishes carry the misconception of feeling

rough. While some pebble finishes can feel rough,

more often than not there are other issues at play like

overexposure or chemical buildup on the surface from

improper water chemistry. Lets explore our different

textures based on product category.

Starting with Quartz, we have 3 different products including SunStone, SunStone Select, and Krystalkrete. Quartz finishes are made up of coarse graded crystalline quartz, ceramic color coated quartz aggregate, and portland cement. SunStone and Krystalkrete use the same sized aggregate called T-Grade while Sunstone Select uses a smaller aggregate called S-Grade. Our Quartz products when exposed and cared for properly have a light texture.

Our Pebble finish products include CrystalStones (Natural & Smooth) and SunStone Pearl (Ice). The Pebble finishes are comprised of river pebble, ceramic color coated quartz aggregate, and portland cement. CrystalStones Natural uses a 6/10 sized pebble and CrystalStones Smooth, SunStone Pearl, and Sunstone Pearl Ice use an 8/16 sized pebble. The smaller 8/16 pebble is slightly smoother than larger 6/10 pebble. SunStone Pearl Ice adds 1-4 mm iridescent glass bead which is very smooth.

All of our Pebble products have a medium texture that provides a bit of traction for people who are active in their pools. Exposure techniques can have an impact on the texture. Some applicators expose the Pebble finishes with water wands and others expose the aggregate with nylon brushes. The use of the water wands exposes more of the aggregate while the brush technique exposes less of the aggregate leaving it flush with the cement. Lastly our Hydrazzo and Hydrazzo Classico are made up of crushed marble, ceramic color coated quartz aggregate, and recycled glass. These finishes are not only CL Industries smoothest pool surfaces, they are the smoothest finishes available on the market. Hydrazzo and Hydrazzo Classico are polished with a water driven polishing tool (The Triton http://www.aquavations.com/products/triton/) after the finish is applied to the pool. The polishing process leaves the finish extremely smooth.

CLI SALES TEAM

Earlier in 2016 we welcomed Aqua Quest to the CL Industries’ sales team. Aqua Quest is a manufacturer’s rep group based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. They unite swimming pool builders and manufacturers of products for the commercial and residential swimming pool industry in the Northeastern United States. Their territory covers 12 states in the Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Although CL Industries is unique to the pool finish market due to the fact that we have in house territory sales managers, we do employ the help of rep groups. They expand our reach as well as give our territory sales managers a strategic partner in larger regions of the country. The Northeast is a vital territory for us. The area requires a certain level of expertise because of the brief building season, level of competition, and geographical challenges. Aqua Quest brings nearly 30 years of sales and technical experience to the table for us in these key states. They also give us an additional 5 sales reps for the area.

Jim Gillick heads up the sales team and is excited about the new partnership. Mr. Gillick has over 30 years of industry experience in retail, construction, and distribution of swimming pool products. Aqua Quest began selling our products about 10 months ago, focusing on Hydrazzo, Hydrazzo Classico, SunStone, SunStone Select, and Krystalkrete. Jim has praised the consistency in our raw materials and noted that they have experienced very few warranty calls. He believes the lack of warranty calls reflects CL Industries’ commitment to product engineering and stringent quality control procedures.
