What is Clearing• Clearing is a scheme that UCAS offer within the UK, if an Individual has not

been offered a formal place, the UCAS will help the individual source an appropriate placement. You are eligible for clearing if:

• you haven't already applied for a place at university• you have missed the UCAS deadline date• you have declined the university places offered to you, or

• you have applied, but have not received an offer of a place

When Does Clearing Happen• Clearing takes place between the months of July and September of any

given year.

• You can take part in clearing if you:• Have not received any offers• Have declined all of your offers• You have not met the entry requirements of any of you chosen universities

• Have appied and been declined from your chosen university, but you have satisfied the UCAS applicaton fees

What do I Need to do?• During clearing, you can apply to as many institutions as you feel

necessary, there is no limit. Unlike the UCAS application you are also not limited to your three choices, if you are made an offer, you are able to decline it if you so choose to. When/if you decide on an institution, make sure that is the right one for you, don’t just go out of desperation.

• Often, broadsheet newspapers, such as the Telegraph list the clearing vacancies throughout the UK; therefore this is a great resource. Alternatively, you can check on the UCAS website.

• Prior to approaching any institutions, make sure that you have your exam results. There is little that anyone can do without your results.

• Clearing 2013 Dates – Application entered after 30th June 2013, will be entered into clearing.
