We give high priority toliteracy and numeracy, which are at the heart of the curriculum.In addition, we provide a wide range of after school activities,setting high standards in all aspects of school life.

    Inclusion and Special Needs

    Claverdon Primary School is an inclusive school and is open to any child ofprimary school age (4 to 11 years)

    Admissions to Reception and in-year transfers are managed by WarwickshireCounty Council. As an inclusive school, we offer available places to anyoneseeking admission into any year group during the academic year regardless of

    gender, ethnicity or Special Educational Needs.

    Claverdon School is committed to the achievement of quality and equality forall its pupils, staff and governors. Unfair discrimination, in any shape or form,on the grounds of gender, ethnicity, disability or age will be challenged andpositively countered whenever and however it occurs.

    Childrens progress is constantly monitored and assessed and careful recordsare kept.

    Occasionally we nd that a child does not make the progress we expect. Ifthis occurs, parents are consulted and appropriate steps taken to supportthe child. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) may be drawn up with individualtargets, review dates and ideas to help parents to support their child athome. Parents will always be consulted and kept fully informed at every stageif we identify a child that could benet from some extra help.

    Gifted and talented pupils are supported in a variety of ways to meet their

    individual needs. From time to time, children may be invited to join a smallgroup to explore problem solving and similar tasks to enhance their thinkingskills and to extend their learning.

    Introduction

    Claverdon Primary School is a medium size community school locatedin the heart of Claverdon village in Warwickshire serving a widecatchment area of pupils from surrounding towns and villages. Wehave strong links with our local village community and with a partner

    school in Birmingham.

    We have approximately 190 children on role in 7 single-year classesfrom 4 to 11 years.

    The school staff includes a mixture of long-serving and recentlyappointed teachers supported by a strong network of qualiedTeaching Assistants in every class.

    An active and committed Governing Body and enthusiastic Friends ofClaverdon Primary School committee contribute signicantly to theefcient running and success of the School.

    The school promotes a friendly and inclusive environment for staffand pupils.

    As well as promoting excellence in the National Curriculum we offera wide range of extra-curricular activities through staff-run clubsand external expertise. A variety of enrichment opportunties arearranged to support individual class topics.

    We benet from on-site wrap-around care provided by Clover Clubfrom 8.00am to 6.00pm.

    It is important that as parents, you feel welcome. A goodrelationship between school and home helps to build a childscondence and assists their development in school. We dependupon the co-operation, support and involvement of parents. At

    Claverdon we strive to foster a relationship that doesnt end atthe school gate, and to develop a good understanding betweenhome, staff and governors for the benet of our children.The children at Claverdon have a happy, safe and caringenvironment in which to learn. We aim to make our childrencondent, sensitive to others, interested in the world aroundthem and prepared for the challenges ahead.

    Our team of Governors provide support to the school in a numberof ways, using our experience from various backgrounds. We arethere to make sure that schools performance is evaluated andcontinuously improves, to provide the strategic direction for theschool, to ensure legal obligations are met and that the schoolkeeps abreast of whatever challenges circumstances throw ourway. Most of all we are there because we care for our school andwant it to succeed.
