Simple Sentence: - one independent clause + no subordinate

Compound Sentence: - two or more independent clause + no

subordinate clauses- Independent clauses joined by a comma and

coordinating conjunction (and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet) or by a semicolon ( ; )

Mark Twain wrote fiction, and T.S. Eliot wrote poetry.

My brother does the dishes and takes out the trash; my chores include vacuuming and dusting.
