Slide 2 Classroom Procedures Spanish II Seora Bailey Slide 3 Language Learning Practices Listening Speaking You will receive points for participating in these practices in class. Each area of practice is worth 100 points a week. These grades will be averaged at the end of the 9 weeks. This grade counts 10% of the total grade (1 st Nine Weeks.) Slide 4 Be Ready to listen In Seat when bell rings Materials ready to work Begin working with opening activity when the bells rings All Materials: Slide 5 Listening Listen carefully in class to presentations by the teacher to videos to audio activities to sharing by other students in order to help master vocabulary and grammar. Please refrain from talking at these times. Slide 6 If you dont understand what is being said in Spanish: 1.Look to see if it is written on the board. 2.Look to see if I am making signals to help. 3.Look to see what your classmates are doing. 4.After you have done all these thingsraise your hand and ask for help. 5.Learn the key phrases. Slide 7 You cannot be listening if: Therefore you are not earning your listening points for the class period. Slide 8 End of Class I need to listen to the announcements so: Remain in your seats until the bell rings. Do not line up at the door If there are announcements, please be quiet so that we can hear them. Slide 9 Speaking Speaking activities may be done with the whole class, small groups or in pairs. Speaking Spanish is a part of your grade. Slide 10 Speaking Activities include: Pronouncing vocabulary Small group activitiesyou will be assigned activities to complete and share with the class. Pair activitiesactivities assigned and then shared. Conversations Asking permission will be done in Spanish, as soon as we practice these phrases. Slide 11 Key Phrases Necesito Ayuda. Puedo ir al bao? Cul pgina? Qu quiere decir ______? Cmo se dice __________ en espaol? Slide 12 Language Learning Practices Reading Writing Homework You will receive points for completing classwork and homework. Each area of practice is worth 100 points a week. These grades will be averaged at the end of the 9 weeks. This grade counts 15% of the total grade(1 st 9 weeks.) Slide 13 Reading Cant read without materials All materials, everyday When you complete a reading assignment, be ready to answer questions about it. Reading is often evaluted by quizzes. Slide 14 Writing Opening activitybegin as soon as you are settled in room. Written make-up assignments are in the sorter in the front of the room. If you want the maximum points, then complete all the assignments. Slide 15 Homework Two or three times a week. Do all homework on same sheet/sheets of paper. Listed for week on board in back of room. Will check to see if complete, then go over it. Will take up Homework sheets at the end of the week. Slide 16 Quizzes 25% of grade (1 st Nine weeks) May have 2 quizzes each chapter May be asked to spell Spanish vocabulary words on quizzes Make up quizzes outside of class during language lab or before/after school. Slide 17 Binder Quiz Binder Keep class work, homework, quizzes and tests Needs to be neat and orderly Counts as a quiz right before mid terms and exams Grammar Flip chart needs to be kept in the binder. Slide 18 Tests 25% of grade (1 st Nine Weeks) At the end of every chapter Will contain questions to answer in Spanish. One test every 7 to 8 days. Slide 19 Mid term exam 25% of grade Will be matching and multiple choice. Slide 20 Rules Be respectful. Be responsible. Be prepared. Slide 21 Note: We will all seek to follow all the rules and guidelines in the student handbook. Slide 22 How to make the best grade possible Participate in classlet it go through your brain. Do your homework every time assigned. Study vocabulary 15 minutes 5 days a week. Ask questions or come for tutoring, if you are having trouble. It is your responsibility to do make up work. Listen for ways to earn extra points on tests or quizzes. Slide 23 Top Eight Ways to loose points 8. Dont bring all your materials to class 7. Sleep in class( or appear to do so) 6. Dont do your classwork or homework 5. Talk while others are talking 4. Do work for another class during a whole group or small group time. 3. Silly or distracting behavior 2.
