Economic Security Act Signed into Law in Minnesota
On March 11, 2014, Minnesota Governor Mark Daytonsigned the Women's Economic Security Act (WESA)into law. The nine-part law imposes new specificrequirements on Minnesota employers, most of whichaim to address reducing the gender pay gap. The lawincreases enforcement of equal pay laws, expandsgrandparent rights to take sick time to care for aninjured or ill grandchild, expands unpaid leave forpregnancy-related needs, and requires newreasonable accommodations for expectant and newmothers, just to highlight a few changes.
