ONLINE NEWS REPORTER

The Paducah Sun is seeking an online newspaper reporter who can write a story and take photos and also update a website and report on its operation, manage social media and shoot video. Since it is a web reporting position, the ideal candidate is one who can stop work on a project, run on breaking news, display it on multiple platforms — under an editor’s supervision — handle follow ups and pick right up where the project work stopped without missing a beat.
A strong desire to enhance community news is essential. Also, a background in various reporting styles — hard and breaking news; feature writing; and business, health and sports — is a plus. The web reporter position is a web-only responsibility. This reporter will not write for the printed newspaper. However work published for the web may be used or developed for the print daily.
A journalism degree, or English or social science equivalent with experience in a newspaper newsroom and proven skills in maintaining high-traffic websites is a must. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and front-end web production software — for video, audio and interactivity — are highly preferred.
