Look at these two different landscapes and tell me about them Warm Cool

Drawing Project Now fold your paper in half hamburger style On one side use warm colors (red, orange yellow) to draw curved lines On the other use cool colors (blue, green, purple) to make straight lines

Week  Five  Warm Up: Perspective Look at a toilet paper tube and spread it out flat. What shape is it when it is flat? (rectangle) What shape is it when it is round? (cylinder) How can we make our flat drawing look as if it is round? Give each student a copy of a photograph of a toilet paper roll and ask them to trace over the lines of the picture with their finger:

Perspective Drawing Project:

1. Trace two ovals that are the same size one above the other. (You can make a stencil by cutting an oval out of a yogurt lid or heavy paper)

2. Draw two lines connecting them

3. Erase the lower curved line

4. Do you see how one side of the toilet paper tube is very dark and the other is light? You can shade in one side of your drawing to give it the appearance of depth.

(The shading was done to match the toilet paper tube. If you want to make your cylinder solid then you would need to shade the upper oval dark on the left and getting lighter towards the right. To see what it would look like it is always best to use a model. This is what real artists do - they don’t draw from their heads until they have used the model enough times that it is in their heads!)
