B1 .72cal J.S.F. Botha Percussion Hunting Rifle R 8500.00

Rifled, octagonal barrel of 31" with adjustable brass fore sight and three leaf rear

sight which has not yet had the sighting grooves cut into it. Rear of barrel marked to

"J.S.F. Botha Cape Town". Under-rib and wooden loading rod to barrel. German

silver fore end cap, wrap-around chequering to fore end and straight grip.

Escutcheon plate to bottom of butt. Long tang to top of grip. Steel butt plate & trigger

guard. Bar action lock is marked to "J.S.F Botha". Excellent bore, rifle appears to

have seen very little use.

B2 British .62cal. Baker Flintlock Rifle - Repro R 4500.00

Full stock with 30,375" barrel which has metal lock bar to the muzzle for mounting a

sword bayonet. Flared steel ramrod, brass pipes, scrolled trigger guard, brass patch

box an butt plate. "Tower G.R" to lock. Produced 1800-1838, total production was

approx. 22000 units. Good condition.

B3 .75cal Bobbejaanboud Flintlock R 2500.00

Rifle has a 35,5" full stock barrel and a British Tower marked lock. Brass pipes and

trigger guard. Heavy "Bobejaanboud" type stock with raised cheek piece. Rifle would

appear to have had some form of patchbox fitted and the box & butt plate have

been crudely replaced with a metal & wood fitting. Rifle also displays some damage

to the muzzle-end of the stock. Fair overall condition.

B4 French .69cal M1822 Percussion Musket. R 1850.00

Shortened barrel of 34". Brass nose cap/fore sight. Converted from the flintlock

musket. Includes ramrod. Fair to good condition.

B5 .75cal Patt. 1839 Percussion Musket R 1750.00

Fullstock to 39" barrel with Lovell's patent bayonet catch. Brass nose cap, hooked

trigger guard and butt plate which is marked "9 799 58". Small chip to stock behind

lock plate, no. 1V marking to stock. Rifle is missing front two barrel bands and

section of fore end has been replaced, otherwise good.

B6 Steel Barrelled Flintlock Blunderbuss R 14500.00

Octagon to round 14" flared barrel. Steel trigger guard with acorn finial and extended

tang. Steel butt plate with extended top tang. Dark, heavy wooden butt which has a

repaired crack to bottom of the butt and fairly coarse chequering to the wrist. No

maker's name to gun. Overall good original condition.

B7 4bore Single Barrelled Big Game Rifle By J. Moreton R 14500.00

Long 40" rifled barrel with open sights and under-rib to barrel. Knox form of barrel

marked to "John Moreton London". Engraved bar action lock marked to "J. Moreton

& Co.". Wrap-around chequering to both fore end & straight wrist. German silver

nose cap to fore end. Steel butt plate. Rifle weighs a fairly heavy 14,5 Lbs. Good

original condition.

B8 28ga Percussion Sporting Shotgun R 3950.00

With detachable butt. Octagon to round 29" barrel. Chequered straight wrist and fore

end, chequering has been "refreshed". L.O.P. of 14,5". Butt has steel connection

plates and can be removed on the wrist. Good original condition.

B9 .75cal P/39 Musket R 3750.00

A conversion of the 39" barrelled India Pattern Brown Bess musket to percussion.

Converted lock is marked "Crown cypher Tower Proof". Brass ramrod pipes,

trigger guard and butt plate. Includes ramrod. Good original condition.

B10 .75cal Flintlock Potzdam M1740 Musket R 7500.00

Barrel length of 41" with brass foresight and bayonet mount to barrel which is

secured to stock by pins. Lock marked "Potzdam Mag" and carries the initials

"D.S.E" to the bottom of the lock. Brass butt plate, trigger guard, nose cap and ram

rod pipes. Steel rod with flared tip. Banana shaped lock plate, ornate side plate.

Ornate butt plate and trigger guard. Brass escutcheon plate to wrist. No military

austerity to this rifle. Good to good plus original condition.

B11 12ga Percussion Sporting Shotgun By Monks R 2950.00

Octagonal to round 29" barrel with under-rib. German silver nose cap. Chequered

straight wrist, escutcheon plate below butt. Bar action lock marked to "Monk's".

The Sanna 77 was manufactured by Dan Pienaar Enterprises [Pty] Ltd. and

introduced onto the SA market in September 1978. It began its development in

Rhodesia in the late 1970's when the Rhodesian firm of GM Steel developed the

GM15 & 16 SMGs which were very closely based on the Czechoslovakian

Sa25[vz.48b]. The Kommando has a folding stock made of a synthetic material

which is very prone to breaking, folding stock missing on this firearm. The gun fires

from an open breech, has a 289mm barrel length and a wedge-shaped magazine of

40 rounds. Good condition.

D58 9mmp Kommando Hmc R 2950.00

The Kommando was originally designed in Rhodesia by Alex Du Plessis and built by

Lacoste Engineering, a Salisbury based company as the LDP. Following this,

Maxim Parabellum went on to build the firearm in South Africa where it was known

as the Kommando. SAPS demanded that the design be changed so that it could not

be converted to full-auto and an improved folding stock lock and magazine catch

was fitted. The Kommando has a barrel length of 230mm, fires from an open wrap-

around bolt, folding shoulder butt and has a twenty-five round Uzi type staggered

magazine. Good plus original condition.


D59 9mmp Rhodesian R76 Hmc R 4500.00

The R76 was manufactured by Northwood Developments (Pvt.) Ltd of Salisbury.

First prototype was released in 1976 and production commenced 1977. It was

offered in both a selective fire variant and semi-auto only model. The R76 was

described a "Complete weapons system" with a choice of four barrel lengths,

thirteen, twenty or thirty round magazines, fixed or folding stocks and a flash hider,

bayonet and bipod. This model has a 25 round magazine, telescoping stock, and

6.5" barrel. Good original condition.

The Milkor BXP was the original design of Andries Piek. The full-auto variant was

purchased by SAP, the Recces and by the security element of what was then known

as "Jan Smuts" airport. The Correctional services also purchased 600 of them.

Production of the semi-auto variant later ended up with Truvelo. The HMC was

offered with a number of different accessories such as suppressors, flash hiders etc.

It has a bottom folding stock, 208mm barrel length and uses 22 & 32 round

magazines. Carbine is it's factory issue box with spare magazine & issue sling. Mint

original condition.

England", "WS" initials to knox form, no. 339 to breech and "Stopers Patent" to

swivelling breech block. "Henry's Patent" rifling designation to side of barrel.

This was a trials rifle designed to compete with the Snider breech loader. It failed on

the trials due to it blowing off the thumb of one of the judges. Open sights and

bayonet mount to 32"barrel. Coarse chequering to 3/4 length stock with steel bands,

trigger guard and butt plate. Faded brown overall finish, some light external pitting to

barrel, fair original overall. Very scarce. Very good bore.

One of the most unusual yet least known repeating rifles the Evans was designed by

Warren Evans and produced from 1873 to 1879 by the short-lived Evans Rifle Co. of

Mechanic Falls, Maine USA. The Evans is fed by a rotary helical magazine that

spans the length of the butt stock and has capacity of 34 rounds, the highest

capacity of any rifle produced in the 19th century. Operated by a cocking

lever/trigger guard. Octagonal barrel of 30,5", Sights graduated to 1100 yards,

Barrel marked to "Evans Repeating Rifle Mechanic Falls M.E & Pat, Dec. 8. 68 &

Sept. 16, 1871". Steel cap to fore end of 10,75". Faded silver grey finish overall.

The barrels are octagonal at the breech but at about 1/3 towards the muzzles they

go round. Action is fitted with a Jones underlever which is slow but sure. Hammers,

locks and action body lightly engraved with delicate scrollwork. The 675mm (26.5")

barrels show some pitting near the breech on the smooth bore tube, rifling on the

other still good. The right hammer is working, the left is not holding to full cock.

There's a horn finger holder built into the rear of the trigger guard. Stock with a small

cheek piece is of nice coloured walnut with quite some figure.

"Wilkes Barre Gun Co. Wilkes Barre P.A. USA". Serial number 1233. Regarded

as one of the classic American shotgun makers along with Parker, Lefever, Fox,

Ihac & L.C. Smith, the Co. was only in business from 1892 to 1895 when it was

bankrupt. Owned by Charles & Ernest Roth who were from the Parry firearms Co. in

Ithaca, they did not have the required capital to continue operating. Good plus

bores, tight action, good plus overall condition.

F135 7x57mm Chilean M95 Mauser Service Rifle R 9500.00

Manufactured by DWM, the Chilean M95 Mauser differed from the Boer Mauser in

three respects. It had a double release catch for the rear sight slide, whereas the

boer Mauser had just one, the bolt head was rounded rather than square and there

was a safety locking lug at the rear of the receiver that the Boer Mauser did not

have. The rifle is includes sling and cleaning rod, it has matching numbers and is in

excellent original condition.

Marked "Crown Erfurt 1904" on top of receiver and "KAR 98" on left receiver, "S"

behind the rear sight denoting suitability for use with "S" cartridges. The butt plate

extension is marked "K.G.P. 46" which is believed to be a German Colonial police

marking in German South West Africa. Turned down spoon shaped bolt handle.

Barrel length 435mm. Stock with semi pistol grip, short wood hand guard on top of

barrel. Miniature Lange rear sight, nose cap with sight protector wings. Very good

condition. Stock has been refinished, has all matching numbers except for cleaning

rod and bolt is un-numbered. An extremely rare carbine.

The Persian Czech Mod 30, also known as the Persian Model 1317. Blade foresight

and tangent rear sight to 18,11" barrel. Iranian national crest to receiver ring, with

the manufacturer's markings stamped in Farsi on the left side rail. Interestingly, this

rifle came out of Zimbabwe and one is uncertain as to whether it was supplied as

form of aid package to Zanla/Zipra. Good plus bore. Good plus condition.

In oak & leather case marked to "Stephen Grant & Joseph Lang Ltd." complete

with rods, brushes , caps etc. Gun has 30" nitro-proofed barrels choked half & 1/4.

Barrels are marked "Charles Lancaster 7 Bury Street St. James's London". with

London nitro-proof marks for 11/4 oz. loads. Extensive engraving to "tear drop"

styled back-action locks which are marked to "Charles Lancaster". Lever type

release to fore-end. Well figured stock a L.O.P of 15" to a red Silvers recoil pad.

Gun has excellent bores and is in a very good plus overall condition as is case.

Charles Lancaster first set-up in business in 1826 and had a reputation for making

fine guns, the firm was purchased by Stephen Grant and Joseph Lang in 1925 and

ceased to trade in 1980. The rights to name were acquired by new proprietors in

1984 and they now build guns under these established names to order.

Rifle has a crude form of scope mounted welded to the receiver and a Bisley deluxe

4x32 scope fitted. Barrel length of 25,36" with leaf and ladder rear sight with ladder

missing as well as a missing fore sight. Overall poor condition.

Conditions of Sale

The following Terms and Conditions as amended by any postal notice or verbal announcement during the sale, constitutes the entire terms and conditions under which the property listed in this catalogue, is offered for sale by Classic Arms and any consignor for the said property that we act for.

1) As used herein, the “bid price” shall mean the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer, to a purchaser and the term “purchase price” shall mean the aggregate of:a) The bid price,

b) A PREMIUM PAYABLE BY THE PURCHASER OF 12,5% OF THE BID PRICE, + VAT at 15% thereon (i.e. a total premium of 14.375%)

c) And where specifically stated by the auctioneer VAT at 15% of the bid price. It is recorded that the consignor has authorised Classic Arms to retain the premium payable on each lot as part of our remuneration and that the VAT payable on such premium is in addition to such premium.

2. On the fall of the Hammer the highest bidder will have been deemed to have purchased the lot being offered and to have:

a) assumed full responsibility and liability for the ownership of that lot in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein

In the case of all firearms it is specifically recorded that the purchaser is deemed to have assumed full liability for ownership and payment in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein irrespective of the granting or not of a South African Police Services licence or permit for possession of the said lot.All lots requiring licences shall be retained by Classic Arms pending proof of issuance of said licences

Should a licence for any lot, for any reason whatsoever, be declined, then the purchaser may require Classic Arms or a registered arms and ammunition dealer of the purchasers choice to resell such lot on the purchasers behalf. Such sale shall be conducted against the prevailing terms and conditions of the chosen dealer at time of resale and, irrespective of the Auction purchase price, at the price determined in agreement with the auction purchaser and the dealerIt is specifically noted that Classic Arms may in no way be held liable for a shortfall if any, between the auction purchase price and the resale price.Under no circumstances shall any lot requiring SAPS licensing be released to any person or body not duly authorised to be in legal possession of said lot, and unless all monies due have been settled in full and in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein.No lots shall be deemed to have been paid for until all monies due have been delivered in cash or in Bank Cleared funds.

All purchases may be paid for in cash, by Master Card or VISA, American Express or Diners Club International, or by cashiers. or Bank Guaranteed Cheque. A further premium of 5% of the aggregate purchase price including VAT thereon will be levied for all Credit or Charge Card settlements.

No cashier’s cheque will be deemed to constitute payment until the effects thereof have been cleared into the Classic Arms Trust Account.If the foregoing or any other conditions contained herein are not complied with by the purchaser, in addition to any other remedies available to us and the consignor by law, including but without limitation to, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the purchase price, then we at our sole discretion may:

a) cancel the sale, retaining as liquidation costs any amounts paid by the purchaser,b) resell the property.

3. All payments to be made within 7 days. Property sold at auction and not paid for in full or collected, within Six (6) elapsed Months from the date of the auction, shall be deemed to be abandoned UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED.The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner he sees fit and recover reasonable administration and/or storage costs from the disposal of said property and/or the purchaser.

No subsequent claim arising from such a disposal shall be entertained and the auctioneer may not be held liable for any losses incurred by either the consignor or purchaser, or any other party, in this regard either publicly or privately and in such event to hold the purchaser liable for all costs including our commission and expenses for both sales, all other charges due hereunder, our attorneys fees and incidental charges.

All fees commissions, bid prices and duties not settled promptly by the purchaser in terms of this

clause 2 shall bear interest at South African Bankers prime lending rate plus 3 percent from the

seventh day following the sale until settlement is received in full.In the event that a purchaser does not effect collection within six (6) months of the sale date, of any item purchased, Classic Arms reserves the right to charge a storage fee of ZAR 150-00 per calendar month or part thereof. Such fee being payable monthly in advance from the first day of the month within which the six (6) month period shall expire. In the event that the purchaser fails in his obligation to Classic Arms to pay such fee, Classic Arms, may at its own discretion, resell such item to recover such fee.

4. We reserve the right to withdraw any property at any time prior to the actual sale of such property. Unless actually stated by the auctioneer, all lots shall be offered against their catalogued number and no lot shall be divided for sale.


9. If we undertake packaging or handling of any lots on the purchaser’s behalf it is done so entirely at the purchasers risk. We are not liable for any acts or omissions of carriers or packers including those recommended by us. Such carriers or packers may carry there own insurance and any claims for loss or damage should be addressed directly to them.

10. These Conditions of Sale and the respective rights of the purchaser and Classic Arms, are governed by the laws of South Africa. By bidding at an auction in person, or by agent, order-bid or telephone or other means, the buyer or bidder agrees to be bound by these Conditions of Sale.Any dispute controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the breach, termination or validity thereof, brought by or against Classic Arms (but not including claims brought against the consignor by the purchaser of the lots consigned hereunder) shall be resolved by the parties in 10.

These Conditions of Sale, shall bind the successors and assigns of all bidders and purchasers and inure to the benefit of successors and assigns. No waiver amendment or modification of the terms hereof (other than posted notices or oral announcements during the sale) shall bind us unless specifically stated in writing signed by us.

11. Absentee Bids. As a service to those bidders that are unable to attend the actual auction, we may at our sole discretion accept bids in advance of sale by telephone, or in writing on the bidding forms provided in the back of the sale catalogue.

Please note that we cannot accept “buy” bids and all bids must clearly state the maximum (excluding buyers premium and any applicable taxes) bid that the bidder is willing to pay. In the event that identical absentee bids are received then the first bid received shall take. We accept no responsibility for not executing an absentee bid for any reason whatsoever.

12. Estimate prices. As a service to our clients, we furnish presale estimates for all lots. These estimates are intended as a guide to current market value and represent no warranty to bidder or seller as to the actual price. Bidding normally begins at 50% of the estimate but the final price may be more or less than the estimate value.

5. We reserve the right to reject any bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be deemed to be the final bid price. In the event of any dispute between bidders or, if in the sole opinion of the auctioneer he doubts the validity of a bid, the auctioneer shall have the sole right to determine the successful bid or to re-offer the property in dispute for sale. Our sale records shall be conclusive in any dispute during or after conclusion of the sale.

6. If for any reason beyond our control, including but not limited to, fire, theft, acts of God, or insurrection, we are prevented from delivering the property to the purchaser, then we will be liable only for the sum actually paid therefore by the purchaser and shall in no event include payment for consequential or incidental damages.

Classic Arms accepts no liability for any losses of whatsoever nature caused by any legislative changes in regard to the possession, by individuals or bodies, of firearms or ammunition.

7. If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (this being the confidential minimum price required by the consignor) then Classic Arms reserves the right to open the bidding or to bid on the consignor’s behalf in order to protect such reserve.

Classic Arms shall not bid on the consignor’s behalf above such reserve. IN NO EVENT MAY

A CONSIGNOR BID ON ANY PROPERTY OFFERED FOR SALE BY SAID CONSIGNOR.

8. All lots are sold “Voetstoets”. ALL STATEMENTS CONTAINED IN THE CATALOG OR

IN ANY SALE DOCUMENTATION AS TO THE AUTHENTICITY, VALIDITY, AUTHORSHIP,

PERIOD CULTURE, SOURCE, PROVENANCE, RARITY, CONDITION, IMPORTANCE OR

HISTORICAL VALUE, ARE STATEMENTS OF OPINION AND ARE NOT

REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES. NOT WARRANTY IS GIVEN AS TO ACCURACY
