Meccano Challenge

Some children in Year 6 have been taking part in Meccano club. This week they got to take their work to The National Railway Museum for it to be judged. We didn’t place in the county but did receive certificates for all of our hard work in school. All of the children had a fantastic time and took part in activities throughout the day.

Trumpet Performance at the Harvest Festival

Y3/4 performed with their trumpets at the Harvest Festival on Thursday. They have only been familiar with the instrument for four weeks and yet they all played together in harmony. We can't wait to hear them at Christmas concerts.

Year 3 Visit to Rydale Folk Museum

Last week, Y3 visited Rydale Folk Museum. We learnt lots of new facts and information about our the Stone Age. The children learnt how to weave using natural fibres and began to create arrowheads using stones. Unfortunately, the bus broke down as we were about to set off home! This made the trip even more memorable.

Year 4

Year 4 have been thinking about Mummification this week. Their text map relates to mummifying a pharaoh and they have started a Science investigation. Mr Birtwhistle has insulated a tomato in natron (salt and bicarbonate soda) and is testing to see if this will preserve the fruit. Emily said, "I can't wait to see what it looks like after the holidays".
