Reception Stay & Clay Session
Thank you for all the parents and carers who attended Reception's stay and clay session. We made some wonderful owls linked with our work on nocturnal animals. We also shared The Owl Babies story with our families.
Halloween Disco
A huge thank you to our fantastic PTA and staff. What a brilliant disco!!! We loved the spooky costumes, games and decorations; the children had such a wonderful evening. We particularly liked the ‘dance offs’ between groups of children led by staff members!
Year 5 & 6 Girls Football
We are so proud of the Year 5 and 6 girls football team. Every
player demonstrated excellent sportsmanship during the
tournament held at All Saint Academy this a ernoon. Go Team
Village!

Year 5 English
In English, Year 5 have been looking at the fea-
tures and structure of biographies and using
Talk 4 Writing to learn a biography about
Queen Victoria. We have then used these skills to
help us write biographies about famous Victori-
ans. Fantastic writing year 5!
Have a lovely half term.

Meccano Challenge
Some children in Year 6 have been taking part in Meccano club. This week they got to take their work to The National Railway Museum for it to be judged. We didn’t place in the county but did receive certificates for all of our hard work in school. All of the children had a fantastic time and took part in activities throughout the day.
Trumpet Performance at the Harvest Festival
Y3/4 performed with their trumpets at the Harvest Festival on Thursday. They have only been familiar with the instrument for four weeks and yet they all played together in harmony. We can't wait to hear them at Christmas concerts.
Year 3 Visit to Rydale Folk Museum
Last week, Y3 visited Rydale Folk Museum. We learnt lots of new facts and information about our the Stone Age. The children learnt how to weave using natural fibres and began to create arrowheads using stones. Unfortunately, the bus broke down as we were about to set off home! This made the trip even more memorable.
Year 4
Year 4 have been thinking about Mummification this week. Their text map relates to mummifying a pharaoh and they have started a Science investigation. Mr Birtwhistle has insulated a tomato in natron (salt and bicarbonate soda) and is testing to see if this will preserve the fruit. Emily said, "I can't wait to see what it looks like after the holidays".
