side, and fold in half to form a top-fold card.
2. Cut Very Vanilla to 3.75 x 5 inches, with a mat of 4 x 5.25 inches from Cajun Craze.
3. Tear a piece of scratch paper or cardstock into a rough line with a gentle curve
across the top. Position that piece over the lower half of your Very Vanilla.
4. With the torn paper in place, stamp a line of three spruce trees at random heights
from the right to left, using Mossy Meadow ink Remove the mask and stamp one
full-size tree next to them. Then replace the mask and stamp one last tree on the
very right edge.
5. Roughen the edges of the Very Vanilla piece with your fingers or scissors. Mat on
the Cajun Craze mat and adhere to cardfront with equal margins on all sides.
6. Stamp the deer image on scrap Very Vanilla in Early Espresso ink, and blend light-
ly with a Blender Pen. Allow a minute to dry, then hand-cut the deer and add it to
the card as shown, using dimensionals.
7. Stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso and punch out using the Classic Label
Punch. Layer over deer legs with dimensionals.
8. Embellish with gold metallic pearls on either end of the sentiment, and a small
bow of Linen Thread or twine dyed Cajun Craze on the top left corner.

green boughs and change the mat color to Cherry Cobbler for the holidays.
10. Stamp your desired saying on the inside the card and on the envelope to match.
• Pretty Peacock 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [150880]
• Cajun Craze 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [119684]
• Very Vanilla 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [101650]
• So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad [147109]
• Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Pad [147093]
• Terracotta Tile Classic Stampin’ Pad [150086]
• Pretty Peacock Classic Stampin’ Pad [150083]
• Classic Label Punch [141491]
Instructions:
1. Cut a Pretty Peacock card base of 8.5 x 5.5 inches and fold
in half to form card. Set aside.
2. Cut a background mat of Cajun Craze measuring 3.75 x 5
inches. Wrap two lengths of Linen Thread around the left
side and tie in a knot in the middle. Leave the ends long
for now. Adhere the mat to the card base with equal mar-
gins on all four sides.
3. On a 5x5 inch square of Very Vanilla, build your back-
ground with the Painter’s Tape technique. Starting with
So Saffron, lay a strip of blue painter’s tape (less harsh
and sticking than masking tape) across your ink pad.
4. Apply the inky tape to your Very Vanilla piece across the
bottom, pressing so all the tape comes into contact with
the paper. Carefully peel the tape off.
5. Repeat with the top color, Mango Melody, taking care to
line the top and bottom up roughly. For the final color, cut
or tear the painter’s tape to be smaller in width than the
other two. Use Terracotta Tile ink for this layer, lining it
up to fill the space between the first two colors.
6. Stamp the line of trees in Terracotta Tile ink on top of the
background. Allow piece to dry before adhering, as it will
be quite saturated at this point.
7. Punch out six Classic Label Punches from Cajun Craze. Line
up three as shown on the lower left of the Cajun Craze
background, adhering flush to each other. Repeat along
the top so it appears they extend all the way through.
8. Tear off the excess Very Vanilla cardstock around your
little scene. It should be a rough square of about 4 x 4.
Adhere to card base as shown, using dimensionals. Pull
out the long ends of the Linen Thread at top and bottom,
trimming if necessary.
9. Embellish with a Classic Label punch sentiment in Pretty
Peacock ink and some Metallic Pearls in gold.

equal margins on all four sides. Set aside.
2. Cut Very Vanilla to 3 & 7/8ths by 5 & 1/8ths inch. Using Clear Block D and Seaside
Spray ink, stamp the clear block on the right hand side of the piece, leaving equal
margins on the top, bottom and right sides.
3. Ink the block and stamp again on the left this time, to create a wide rectangle. Try
to line it up with the first block (they will overlap some) and leave the same wide
margins on the left as you did on the right side.
4. Clean the clear block with a baby wipe or your Simply Shammy.
5. Where the two blocks overlapped, stamp a spruce tree in Night of Navy ink.
Stamp a second tree offset from the first, slightly up or down as needed. Stamp a
couple of twig bushes to the left and right of the trees.

all four sides.

Partial-Cut Technique
Card Instructions:
1. Cut Sahara Sand cardstock to measure 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Fold
in half to form side-hinge card. Set aside.
2. Cut a Very Vanilla piece of cardstock measuring 3.75 x 5
inches. In the center, stamp the line of trees, inked with
markers in this order: Cajun Craze on the trunks, Crushed
Curry on the tops, and Pumpkin Pie in between. Work quick-
ly when inking stamps with markers; “huff” lightly on the
stamp before stamping to remoisten the drying ink colors.
3. Stamp the ground image several times below the trees, us-
ing the same marker or ink colors as before.
4. Stamp the desired sentiment in the lower right corner using
Sahara Sand ink. Stamp the spattered dots very lightly at the
top left and lower right area of the trees.
5. On a 2 by 5 inch strip of Sahara Sand cardstock, stamp the
deer image in Cajun Craze ink about 1 inch up from the
bottom edge. Color shadows lightly with Crumb Cake marker
or Blends.
6. Using your paper trimmer, Slice down to the deer’s head at
the one-inch mark. Carefully lift the blade and reposition it
to begin cutting again at its feet. Slice down and off the
edge.
7. Use Paper Snips or good small scissors to trim out just the
part of the deer to the right of the cuts. The majority of the
deer remains uncut. Discard the strip.
8. Adhere the deer strip flush with the left edge of the stamped
trees piece, using dimensionals. Adhere the card front to a
mat of Cajun Craze cardstock measuring 5.25 x 4 inches.
9. Attach the cardfront to the card base will an equal margin
on all sides. Wrap Linen Thread around the hinge and tie in a
knot; place several smaller pieces of Linen Thread alongside
the knot and tie the knot around those as well.
10. Embellish with two Metallic Pearls in gold at the very top left
corner.
Bonus Layouts
Deer at Sunset: stamp the tree line on a plain card base.
Sponge orange under the trees and yellow around them.
Stamp deer in right lower corner of a quarter-sheet of card-
stock and tear from lower left to upper right. Crumple, then
smooth our and layer over trees. Sponge to match card base.
Evergreen Farm: Stamp four trees at varying heights across
the cardfront. Before you reink each time, stamp again in the
background to look like distant trees. Create the fence from
the Classic Label punch. Add glitter on the boughs if desired.
Vivid Mountain Sunset: use the torn edge of scratch paper to
sponge different layers of yellow and orange. Punch a circle out
of scratch paper to use as a stencil for the sun. Stamp the trees
in the darkest color of orange on top of the background.
Stamping Hints & Tips
Tips for New Stampers: Make sure your surface is flat and pro-
tected from staining. Good lighting helps you combine colors
best. Check to make sure the stamp is clean before you put in
on the ink pad. Well-inked pads provide the best results. If a
pad is too juicy, pat it down with a paper towel and try again.
Stamp on scratch paper first. Push the stamps straight down
onto the paper, and pull them straight back up without rock-
ing, to prevent catching the inky edges (called “ghosting.”)
About Stampin’ Up’s new CLING Rubber Stamps: our award-
winning images now come in a new, improved version of cling
that will NOT fall off. Use caution when removing from blocks,
using your fingernail or Take Your Pick Tool to slide under the
cling before pulling off, or the foam may give way before the
sticky does! Clean with water and the Simply Shammy.
Mailing Tips & Tricks: For very bumpy card fronts, add a quar-
ter-sheet of thicker cardstock over the front of the card when
you slide it into the envelope. Place a piece of tape inside the
envelope over any spot on the card where a raised element
might pop through.
