“Your life lies before you like a path of driven snow, be careful how you tread it, cause every mark will show.” - Lowri Williams

Life is indeed a unique gift but it becomes what we make of it. Modern society is disturbed by pressures of time and performance. There are too many activities to be carried out but too little time to contemplate and reflect upon. What we do as adults, our children take it as important lessons on life .Our children are observant of how we speak, act, react and the way we interact. Our little thoughts, actions, decisions and attitudes can make grand changes to the altitudes our children in their life as adults. Our character impacts their character.

If we wish our children to have a strong character we need to make an early start when their minds are impressionable. Building a great character doesn’t need great things to be done but requires us to take small steps which could be as simple as teaching them the correct way to eat, arrange their bags, polish their shoes, sitting down to study on time, completing their homework, keeping their surrounding clean, helping a friend in the class, speaking politely or even picking a wrapper and putting it in the dustbin.

Our role doesn’t end here, as these small steps need to be practiced under our guidance over a period of time to ensure that they done in the right way .We should then eventually allow them the freedom to pursue these little skills independently so that they become a part of their character and also the foundation for greater skills to be learnt later in life. If we are able to do this, we will surely witness our children blossoming into adults who are not only keen to achieve their aims but are sensitive enough to understand that they owe a lot to the society, country and world as a whole. They would undoubtedly have empathy, tolerance and would the take right steps towards environmental concerns.

We at St. Mary’s firmly believe in empowering our children by adding strengths to their natural abilities. We aspire to make each of our students to be loyal, deter-mined, honest, persistent and humble individuals who conduct themselves to become the beacons of peace and hope.
