J French Alps The Alps are one of the most popular tourist places in Europe – the mountains are perfect for sports. Find out about the Summer and Winter sports. Create a table. Make a list of all the sports in your table. Choose one sport and create a picture on HWB or in your homework books. You could choose one Summer and one Winter sport. Language: The Gallic Rooster is a famous unofficial French symbol. It is said to represent hope and faith and was seen to be a particular reminder to the French of their bravery and courage during the Second World War. Task: Write your own poem about the rooster. Be creative. It could rhyme. You could describe a Rooster. You could write an acrostic poem, in which the first letter of each line spells out Rooster, as below: Rooster, help us to remember, Open our hearts, You could write a funny rhyme, as below: Oh so many people, Soldiers in the war, The rooster liked to dance, The bravery and courage, Waving his flag from France, Everyone who helped, With all his might and power, Representing hope and faith. He climbed the Eiffel Tower. Summer Winter bungee jumping ice diving Reading: Please continue to practise reading any books which you have at home, including story, poetry, comics, jokes, magazines or online activities. Practise reading & spelling the word lists in your Homework books. PE: In the garden. 1. Have a wheelbarrow race with your family. 2. Make an obstacle course. Time how long it takes to complete one course. Beat your score. Change course. Make it fun! Maths - Tables: Use j2blast, ttrockstars, Topmarks games such as ‘Hit the Button’ and ‘Coconut Multiples’. Look in your homework book to find out which tables you are learning. Recap previous tables learnt. Practise multiplication and division. Some children have added their scores to HWB. Create your own NHS rainbow

Outdoor Art: Collect all seven colours of the rainbow, using nature. You could take a photo, make a collage, glue or stick onto paper. Ideas of nature collections above. If you can’t get

outside, make collections indoors, like the example shown. Be creative and enjoy!

Maths 2D & 3D Shape Challenges Outdoors:

How many 2D and 3D shapes can you make? Practise counting the number of sides and corners on the 2D shapes, discuss properties like: rectangle - ‘it has two long sides and two short sides’ or square - ‘all the sides are the same length’. With 3D shapes count the number of edges, faces and vertices (points/corners). Discuss properties like: ‘Cone - it has one circular face and one curved face. It has one edge and one vertex’. (plural – vertices). How many shapes can you find?
