HIT THE ROAD: The Dodgers continue their first road trip of the season and look to salvage the finale of their three-game series this afternoon at Colorado following yesterday’s 4-2 loss. After today’s game, the Dodgers will fly to Chicago to conclude their six-game road trip (0-2) with a three-game series at Wrigley Field, including a nationally televised contest tomorrow in the Cubs’ home opener. The Dodgers are hoping to avoid their first sweep of the season and their first series sweep since dropping all three games to the Giants at AT&T Park to close out the 2016 regular season. Los Angeles was last swept by the Rockies in a three-game series Sept. 25-27, 2015 in Denver. Los Angeles won the 2016 season series against Colorado, 12-7, including a 4-5 mark at Coors Field. Los Angeles’ 97 wins at Coors Field are the most by any visiting club, and the Dodgers’ .513 winning percentage (97-92) also tops all National League road teams at Coors Field, with only Los Angeles and Philadelphia (.513) posting winning records in the history of the stadium. HILLTOPPERS: The Dodgers have posted a National League- best 2.60 ERA (15 ER/52.0 IP, 2 nd MLB) through six games, while limiting opposing hitters to a .212 batting average (7 th MLB) with 51 strikeouts against just nine walks. Dodger relievers have not allowed a run since the eighth inning on Tuesday, compiling a streak of 13.1 consecutive scoreless innings. The Los Angeles bullpen, which ranked second in the Majors in ERA (3.35), opponents’ batting average (.221) and WHIP (1.16) in 2016, looks to once again be a team strength, allowing just two runs in 18.1 innings for a National League-best 0.98 ERA. Dodger relievers have limited opponents to a .182 batting average (4 th NL, 12-for-66) and posted a big league-best 0.76 combined WHIP. Pedro Báez (right wrist contusion) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk in 0.2 innings last night for Triple-A Oklahoma City in his second rehab appearance, as he appeared in games on consecutive days. Clayton Kershaw allowed back-to-back home runs for the first time in his career last night, doing so in his 1,773 rd career inning. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last pitcher to open his career with 1,772.0 or more innings without allowing back-to-back homers was Greg Maddux, tossed 2,806.0 innings before giving up his first back-to-back home runs on Aug. 23, 1998 vs. the Dodgers (Gary Sheffield and Eric Karros). A LOOK BACK: On this date in 1981, Fernando Valenzuela made his first Major League start, substituting for Jerry Reuss, on Opening Day and blanking the Astros, 2-0. That start would kick off Fernando-mania and a 1981 World Series season that saw Valenzuela go 13-7 with a 2.48 ERA and 11 complete games (eight shutouts) in 25 starts en route to a Rookie of the Year, Cy Young and All-Star selection. Also on this date in 1913, the Brooklyn Dodgers played their first regular-season game at Ebbets Field as Nap Rucker blanked Philadelphia, 1-0. CLARK KENT-A: Kenta Maeda looks for his first win of 2017 after taking the loss on Tuesday in his season debut against the Padres, when he allowed three runs on six hits in 5.0 innings. Maeda found success against the Rockies last year, going 2-2 with a 1.90 ERA (5 ER/23.2 IP) in four starts, including a 2-1 mark with a 2.12 ERA (4 ER/17.0 IP) in three starts at Coors Field. Last year, Maeda limited Colorado hitters to a .186 batting average (16-for-86) with 28 Ks against just three walks in 23.2 innings. Maeda finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year balloting last year, going 16-11 with a 3.48 ERA in 32 starts. His 16 wins last year were the second-most wins ever by a Los Angeles rookie behind only Rick Sutcliffe (17-10, 1979) and tied for the second most ever in a single-season by a Japanese pitcher. He capped off his rookie season by leading qualifying MLB rookie starting pitchers in starts (32), wins (16), opponents’ batting average (.299), WHIP (1.14) and innings (175.2). TURN’D UP: Justin Turner was held hitless for the first time yesterday, going 0-for-4, but is still slashing .381/.381/.571 on the young season. Turner has enjoyed playing the Rockies during the course of his career, posting a .372/.449/.551 slashline in 56 career games against Colorado, his highest marks against any National League opponent (58-for-156, 19 2B, 3 HR, 28 RBI). In addition to his overall success, Turner has been one of the best active players through his first 26 career games at Coors Field, batting .350 (28-for-80, 16 th active players) with nine doubles, two homers and 14 RBI. In limited action against today’s Rockies’ starter Tyler Anderson, Turner has gone 6-for-9 with a double, a homer and two RBI. Among the Dodgers with significant history at Coors Field, Chase Utley (.332/.369/.572, 62-for-187, 15 2B, 8 HR, 45 RBI in 45 G) and Adrián González (.307/.379/.542, 106-for-345, 24 2B, 19 HR, 87 RBI in 87 G) have enjoyed success at the ballpark. Overall, Adrián González’s 133 RBI in 168 games rank as the fourth most all-time against the Rockies franchise, behind only Barry Bonds (141), Matt Kemp (140) and Luis Gonzalez (139). IN MIDSEASON FORM: Adrián González went 2-for-4 with an RBI yesterday and has reached base safely in all six of the Dodgers’ games, going 6-for-16 (.375) with two doubles, two RBI and a .524 on-base percentage. González has a history of hot starts, and his .304/.374/.526 career April slashline represents his highest marks in each category of any calendar month. Yasiel Puig, the only Dodger to start all six of the club’s games, picked up his third multi-hit game of the season yesterday, going 2-for-4 with a double. HIT THE ROAD: The Dodgers continue their first road trip of

the season and look to salvage the finale of their three-game series

this afternoon at Colorado following yesterday’s 4-2 loss. After

today’s game, the Dodgers will fly to Chicago to conclude their

six-game road trip (0-2) with a three-game series at Wrigley

Field, including a nationally televised contest tomorrow in the

Cubs’ home opener.

The Dodgers are hoping to avoid their first sweep of the

season and their first series sweep since dropping all

three games to the Giants at AT&T Park to close out the

2016 regular season. Los Angeles was last swept by the

Rockies in a three-game series Sept. 25-27, 2015 in

Denver.

Los Angeles won the 2016 season series against

Colorado, 12-7, including a 4-5 mark at Coors Field.

Los Angeles’ 97 wins at Coors Field are the most by any

visiting club, and the Dodgers’ .513 winning percentage

(97-92) also tops all National League road teams at

Coors Field, with only Los Angeles and Philadelphia

(.513) posting winning records in the history of the

Dodger relievers have not allowed a run since the eighth

inning on Tuesday, compiling a streak of 13.1

consecutive scoreless innings. The Los Angeles bullpen,

which ranked second in the Majors in ERA (3.35),

opponents’ batting average (.221) and WHIP (1.16) in

2016, looks to once again be a team strength, allowing

just two runs in 18.1 innings for a National League-best

0.98 ERA. Dodger relievers have limited opponents to a

.182 batting average (4th NL, 12-for-66) and posted a big

league-best 0.76 combined WHIP.

Pedro Báez (right wrist contusion) allowed two runs on

a hit and a walk in 0.2 innings last night for Triple-A

Oklahoma City in his second rehab appearance, as he

appeared in games on consecutive days.

Clayton Kershaw allowed back-to-back home runs for

the first time in his career last night, doing so in his

1,773rd career inning. According to the Elias Sports

Bureau, the last pitcher to open his career with 1,772.0

their first regular-season game at Ebbets Field as Nap

Rucker blanked Philadelphia, 1-0.

CLARK KENT-A: Kenta Maeda looks for his first win of 2017

after taking the loss on Tuesday in his season debut against the

Padres, when he allowed three runs on six hits in 5.0 innings.

Maeda found success against the Rockies last year, going 2-2

with a 1.90 ERA (5 ER/23.2 IP) in four starts, including a 2-1

mark with a 2.12 ERA (4 ER/17.0 IP) in three starts at Coors
