INSURANCE BAR was first established in 1925 by R.W. Martindale. The directory originated as the official medium for the selection of legal counsel by the International Claim Association, the premier group of life, accident, and health companies. The directory was an immediate success and soon expanded its format to meet the needs of the property and casualty claims and loss departments for legal and adjustment services. Subscribers are required to provide verifiable references in order to qualify for listing. Our subscribers have been carefully investigated through established and authoritative sources as to their standing in the insurance industry.

The CLAIM SERVICE GUIDE, established in 1939, lists preferred independent adjusting firms located throughout the world. Only approved adjusters qualify for listing, and the class of business for which the adjuster has been recommended is indicated in their listing. References are verified and firms must be in business several years in order to qualify to be listed.

The Expert Service Provider sections of our directory and website contain listings of individuals and companies who offer their expertise in various fields associated with the insurance industry. Our subscribers have satisfactorily served insurance companies, self-insureds, law firms, and other industry professionals, and have been recommended by these companies to be listed.
