4. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND COMPANY POLICY
Employment Equity
CAI has been transformed to a Level 2 Contributor in accordance with the BBBEE Code of Good Practice as promulgated by the Department of Trade and Industry. Full scoring information is available on request.
CAI adopted a policy of affirmative action with respect to basic technical
development in 1993.
This policy involved the following:
Identifying needy and promising PDI’s for potential technical training up to diploma level in the field of Electrical Engineering.
Financing the studies of these trainees, through sandwich courses at the
Wits Technikon up to Diploma level.
On the job training, including CAD courses, project work, etc., is being provided to the trainees in the off study periods. This training takes the form of a prolonged process of weekly training, handled by a Director of the practice, in all aspects of basic technical features required by project engineers on projects executed in the broader construction industry. Emphasis is placed on solid electrical engineering basics, rather than glossing over modern, computer-based application systems.
Studies of various further technical educational development of PDI
personnel are being financed by the company.
