Our Challenges:
Long-Term Business (20 Years delay between inputs andresults, hardly adaptable)
Per-Student Financing (lowering exigency and filtering)
Funding Difficulties (cost cuts)
Ethics Issues (plagiarism, exam fraud, corruption)
Scientists Teach Engineers (how likely is that they wouldnot teach them to become scientists instead?)
A Gap Between the University and the Practical Aviation

Our Challenges (2):
Lower Number of Openings in Aviation for Graduates(Romanian aviation industry shrank)
Engineering is Considered Difficult (young people prefer
a career in law or economic sciences)
Unlike Economic or Law Education, Engineering Requires
Laboratories (huge costs to modernize them)
Romanian 18-Year Old Population Shrank Abruptly
No More Monopoly on Aviation Higher Education: Tough
Competition From Foreign Universities

Our Challenges (the toughest one):
Do We Really Understand Young People? thrill seekers, distracted and looking for distractions,
lower span of attention,
confident on the outside but not easy on the inside,
short term emotional, poor long term planners,
in need to be treated as individuals (not easy in mass
education and not in our tradition),
hating mathematics, loving intuitive models instead,
looking for immediate reward and positive feedback,
negative feedback nearly kills them,
visual, demanding in visual representations,
responding better to trial-and-error learning than to
competences-based learning etc.Adapted from: How to Approach Teenagers? By Yvonne van Sark, Aerospace Education 2020, Amsterdam 2010
