Auxiliary have continued their

pursuit of excellence in serving the

needs of educators, working with

young people and performing

emergency services.

The following lists just a few of Ihe

noncombat missions carried out on

behalf of the US. AIr Force and other

CA P customers:

Each yeclr , 17 CAl' wings hosted 125

cadets and their escorts from 17

COUlltries in support of the lnrcrna-

tional Air Cadet Exchange program.

North CaroLina Wing spent two

days searching for a Cessna 17 2 that

crashed into a treetop. The pilot and

passenger were helped down and

walked away.

Missouri Wing flew a liver

transplant patient from Moberly, M, "

to Omaha, Neb, for surgery.

Puerto Rico Wing membersresponded to a call for help in the

aftermath of the devastating hurri-

cane. Shelter management, door-to '

door damage assessment, dean up

and rebuildlng were all part of the

efforts.

Virginia Wing flew 72 sorties

COVC[ing5,000 square miles in search

of a downed "chopper."

Colorado Wing found two hikers

lost for nearly 48 hours In lhe

Colorado winter wilderness.

Florida Wing cadets played a vital

role in searches for a Cessna 402-13

that crashed in l.ake Okeechobee.

Oregon Wing searched for two

days before locating the wreckage of

a CS ! nil 182 that crashed in the

rugged Klarnlchi Mountains killing a

doctor and his three children.

Alabama Wing members assisted

in a search for two cluck hunters lost

in Mobile Bel)'.

Alaska Wing h Iped in the .earch

and recovery of •ix snowmobilers

buried ina midday avalanch ncar

Anchorage.

California Wing located the crash

sl te of two downed '1:2&.

Oklahoma Wing provided assis-

tance to emergency responders and

victlrns after deadly tornadoes ripped

Arizona Wing assisted the Air

Force in recovery of aircraft debris

after an r-16 crash.

NASA astronaut Maj. Frederick W.

"Rick" Sturckow shared hi. expert-

cnces with more than 800 schoolteachers al CAP's ational Congress

on Aviation and Space Education.

Oregon Wing rescued a 52-rear-old

pilot after his Cessna 150 crashed in

heavy weather.

Idaho Wing located a rnl 'sing

hunter ill the rugged Owyhee

Minnesota Wing located a slate

aircraft that crashed while surveying

Center (NTC) was established in 1997

as a communlcatlons and computer

resource clearinghouse, The NT

works with several federal agencies to

re-u tillze excess electronics equl p-

mont, By extending the life of

taxpayer-purchased assets, the NTC

not only helps support the equip-

ment needs of CAP but also provides

a valuable service to the country, In

addition, NTC technicians have

processed and even manufactured

specialty items for CAP communica-

tions system.

Civil Air Patrol's Supply Depot in
