RECREATIONAL ADMISSION GUIDELINESThese standards are in response to a recommendation from the Chief Coroner of Ontario effective March 2012.

Children 3 - 6 years old and under Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied in the water by a caregiver who is over 14 years old and responsible for their direct supervision. A caregiver may provide direct supervision to a maximum of two children.

Children aged 3 - 6 will be issued a purple wristband at the admissions desk. If they successfully complete the swim test, they will be given a green wristband by the lifeguard on deck. This will allow them to go in the deep end and down the slide with their caregiver under direct supervision at all times in the pool.

Children 7 - 10 years old Upon arrival, all children aged 7-10 will be issued either:

1) A red wristband - child’s parent/guardian will not be entering the water (the child’s parent/guardian must remain in the facility). 2) A yellow wristband - child’s parent/guardian will be coming into the pool with them.

Children with a red wristband must take a facility swim test to determine if they can stay in the pool by themselves. Upon entering the pool deck, they must report to the lifeguard on deck for the swim test. If they successfully complete the swim test, they will be given a green wristband. If they are not successful, they must return to the admissions desk to receive a yellow wristband, their caregiver must accompany them into the pool and provide direct supervision.

Children under the age of 11 who have not passed the swim test must be accompanied by a caregiver who is over the age of 14 at all times in the pool. Children under the age of 11 who have passed the swim test may swim unaccompanied if their caregiver remains within the facility.

Abilities swim test Children must swim on their front across the shallow end of the pool (22m) without touching the bottom of the pool, putting their face in the water and keeping their feet at/near the surface.

If the swim test is not successfully completed, a green wristband will not be issued and the child will be required to remain under direct supervision of their caregiver while in the pool.

Supporting Children Through LossSupporting Children Through Loss

We recognize the challenges that children and parents face when someone in the family is living with a terminal illness or has experienced the death of a loved one. Our groups are offered to kids five and up and are run by qualified therapists and trained volunteers who help children explore their feelings around loss through the use of Music, Art and Play Therapy. All groups are offered at no cost to participants.
