I would like to take this opportunity to announce the hiring of a new staff member, Ashley Kirk. She will be joining Sara Ryan, Sabrina Gill, and Kayla Motta.
It has been a meeting-filled week at City Hall and in the ward. I sat on the selection panel for the Arts, Culture, Heritage and Recreation Advisory Committee and Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee. The amount of public interest was very exciting to see.
I was invited to attend and present at the Graduation Ceremony for “Making Votes Count Where We Live”. Congratulations to all those that participated. On Wednesday evening I attended the Committee of Adjustments hearing in relation to the 1687 Merivale & 310, 320, 330 Titan Private Claridge project. For more information about the Committee of Adjustments, please see the following link: http://ottawa.ca/en/committee-adjustment-0. On Thursday evening I attended the Open House for the Stage 2 Trillium Line Extension Plan as well as the New Infill II Regulations Presentation.

I want to thank all the residents that attended to ask questions and share their concerns. I would also like to thank all of our community associations, rink coordinators, and volunteers for their hard work in maintaining our area rinks.
Finally, I want to remind everyone of the Elder Abuse Awareness presentation on Wednesday, January 21st at the Emerald Plaza Library. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in attending. Until next week, Keith
Councillor Egli is seen in the above photo
along with new staff member, Ashley Kirk, on
Monday, January 12th. Welcome to the team!

Dogs in Parks
Parks can provide a pleasant and safe
environment in which to exercise dogs.
Dogs must always be under the control of their
handler, even if a leash is not required. Signs
are posted to inform the public of whether
dogs are prohibited or if they must be leashed.
The "Dogs-in-Parks Designation Policy" has
been developed in consideration of all people who use City
parkland. The policy establishes fair and consistent criteria which,
when applied city-wide, ensures access to parkland by dogs with
their owners as well as freedom from dogs where parks, parts of
parks, or park activities are not compatible with the presence of
dogs. The policy provides for community involvement in the
designation process.

their dogs-in-park policy, please visit:

City seeks community torchbearer for
Pan American Games Torch Relay
As the countdown to the TORONTO 2015 Pan American/Parapan American Games continues, the City of Ottawa invites residents to nominate a community leader, local celebrity or
role model to be a torchbearer for the Ottawa leg of the torch relay that starts in Canada on May 30, 2015.
The City has been given the opportunity to pick one community
torchbearer and the deadline for submissions is January 18, 2015. The selected torchbearer must be at least 13 years of age
and a Canadian citizen or legal resident. Nominations can be submitted on ottawa.ca.
The Pan Am flame will be lit during a traditional ceremony in Teotihuacan, Mexico, before it travels to Canada on May 30,
2015. The torch relay will feature 3,000 torchbearers who will carry the Pan Am flame along its 41-day journey as participants share the Pan Am spirit in more than
130 Canadian communities.
The flame will be passed for the last time on July 10, 2015, at the opening ceremony of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games.
The torch relay will incorporate alternative modes of transportation, including plane, train and boat, passing through five major cities outside of Ontario. The remainder of the torch relay legs are all in Ontario communities. At the TORONTO 2015
Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, 7,600 top athletes from the Americas and the Caribbean will compete at more than 30
venues located in 16 municipalities across southern Ontario.
