Thornton City Council Members,
If you look at my qualifications and experience, you’ll find someone who would continue the
leadership stability that Thornton residents desire.
A few highlights:
2015 is the start of my 8th year (5 as President) on the Woodbridge Station HOA Board
of Directors. With 628 homeowners, it’s one of the largest in Thornton. The residents
and I use the GoRequest app when we see opportunities for improvement.
We’ve partnered with the City on maintenance and landscaping issues. You provided
the paint so we could repaint the 56 fire hydrants in the HOA. We re-stained several
open space fences to improve the appearance along Summit Grove Parkway and the
many walking trails.
During my 19-year Senior Manager career at Radio Shack, I was the #2-rated manager
out of 5,000 at one point. My employees and I turned our downtown location into the
top-rated store for overall sales, tickets written, profits, and highest-paid employees in
Colorado. Many new store managers requested me as their indoctrination manager to
get them started on the right foot. Three years were as part of Radio Shack’s
“President’s Council,” the best-of-the-best senior store managers. We helped solve
company issues for senior management and even helped develop the advertising logo,
“You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.”
During my tenure at Qwest Communications as product SME (Subject Matter Expert),
for the first time ever we turned our call center into the top-rated location for Internet
and Satellite TV sales. I also was a winner of Bravo Club status. That’s the highest-rated
employees for product sales and service.
I’m a volunteer on several group’s Boards of Directors.
A couple of years ago, I was selected to be on the first Business Advisory Task Force.
After that ended, I was appointed to the Neighborhood Revitalization Advisory Board.
Giving back with a can-do attitude and lots of optimism is part of my character. I like to
help out if I can make a difference.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.

Dear Thornton City Council:
I am writing to recommend SomXai Vue for the vacant city council position. I have known SomXai for 10
years. He first invited me to a Hmong New Year’s celebration which takes place the Friday and Saturday
after Thanksgiving. The celebration is filled with their traditions and is intergenerational. It is wonderful
to see great grandparents, grandparents, and parents with their children all learning and remembering
strong traditions in their culture.
SomXai always was wonderful since so much of the event is in their native Hmong language, to translate
for me and answer my questions so I too could learn. After several years, the Hmong community made
me an honorary Hmong and dressed me in their traditional dress for the event.
SomXai has asked me many questions about how to get involved in your local community. I have shared
about your boards and commissions and know he has applied in the past.
SomXai along with other Hmong clans helped put together a summer event where all the clans came
together. They have always reached out to elected officials and asked people to come for any time they
could so they could share experiences.
SomXai has invited me to his home for a dinner where I have had a chance to talk to young women who
asked how to get involved in their communities.
SomXai would be a great addition to your council. He would bring a wonderful perspective on council.
He would ask questions and work hard at his job as a council member. Community is important to
SomXai and I know each council person believes that also.
After you review his resume you see he has a great varied background, has held many leadership
positions and has great organizational skills. SomXai would be a great addition and voice to Thornton
City Council.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions 303-469-4707.
Sincerely, Nancy McNally

Full answers from SomXai Vue to the following questions (copied straight from the application): Why are you interested in this position on City Council? “Note: I was out of town for the last Regular Municipal Election and did not get to vote. I am interested in this position on the City Council because I want to make a difference in our city by helping to provide services, better plans/projects, provide better resources and better life for the citizens of Thornton. I want to be the eyes and ears for the residents of City of Thornton. To seek and listen to concerns from the community about the City projects and services.” What do you think are the two most pressing issues in Thornton today and why? “1. Public school & facilities - with the city populations growing fast, there aren't enough school for the children; and that mean less and less quality education for our children. 2. Transportation and business developments. For business development - Xcel Energy Substation in the neighborhood. This posed concerns from the neighborhood and other nearby communities. The same time, we also want to find the best way to bring businesses into the city.” Please list any other community activities or groups (church, civic, sports, etc.) that you are currently involved with or have been involved with in this community or any other community: “>Got elected for President of the Hmong American Assocociation of Colorado, to providing better and quality of life to the 6,500 (estimated) members of the Hmong in Colorado; majority are in Westminister, Thornton, Arvada and Broomfield. >Worked with Honorable Mayor Nancy McNally, her City Council Members and the City Park/ Recreation crew for the Hmong Top-Spin field on Zuni and 72nd of Westminster. >Chief Executive Officer for the Vue National Association, Inc., managed the day to day operations of the organization, state-wide; including budgeting, projects and services/ programs.
