The Orchestra
The City of Southampton Orchestra is at the heart of music-making in Hampshire, performing five major concerts each year.
The orchestra has been established for over 40 years and since 1978 has solely employed professional conductors, ensuring a high level of training and performance. Concerts include works from both the standard symphonic repertory and more adventurous compositions.
The CSO also performs an annual concert specifically designed to introduce children to orchestral music, and takes part in community performances such as the annual free Music in the City festival.
BBC Radio 3’s Listen Up programme called the CSO “one of the UK’s leading non-professional orchestras”.
