3. Calendar of Events
Mr. Boyd provided overview: *Hoping for a chocolate crawl downtown in March for Easter rather than February, planned for Friday
March 26th and will be partnered with the Library for a movie; *May through July on the 2nd Friday of the month there will be a Concert in Friendship Park Series. *Independence Celebration scheduled for Saturday June 26, 2021; hoping to move venue closer to
downtown; the hardship has been the costs to increase the height of fireworks for visibility downtown. *A back to school block party will replace our Back To School Bash this year, on Friday July 30, 2021
because we would like to help those in real need and to do so it would be better to partner with the schools
SSA formerly Communities and Schools program; *A Taste of Social Circle will continue but due to pandemic it will be moved to Friday September 10th in the
hope that it might be possible this year; *Friendship Festival is scheduled for Saturday October 2, 2021; *Christmas Celebration and Tree Lighting will go back to being a combined event scheduled for Friday
November 19, 2021; this may seem early but the weather is so unpredictable in December and will allow for
holiday shopping at our downtown merchants;
4. Work Plan Review
Mr. Boyd provided overview: *make effort to celebrate the volunteers who make events possible; *partner with other groups to continue successful events, so that Main Street can continue to try new events; *utilize Friendship Park for events; Friendship Park pavilion can be rented for private events and the cost is
$50 per hour with 2 hour minimum and 4 hour maximum; and *hoping to grow our Farmer’s Market by adding to our vendors.
5. Tree Board Update
Trees downtown were trimmed up and an effort will be made to keep trees trimmed and off the buildings; National
Arbor Day is February 19, 2021 and a redbud tree will be planted at 10am on February 19, 2021 in Passive
