As the weather warms up, you can help keep your families and our drivers safe by keeping the following tip in mind:

Safe Disposal of Barbecue Coals

• Please allow coals/ashes to cool for at least 48 hours in the grill, 72 hours for extra precaution, before placing them in the trash. • Never place coals/ashes in your recycling or green waste carts.

Help Prevent Truck Fires!

Tips to Reduce Food WasteCalifornians throw away nearly 6 million tons of food waste every year! According to CalRecycle, this accounts for nearly 20% of all waste in our landfills. You can be a part of the solution by following these simple tips to reduce food waste:

1. Store properly. Did you know leftover cheese lasts longer if it is wrapped loosely in wax paper, not plastic? Visit Savethefood.com for all kinds of storage tips and tricks.

2. Find creative ways to preserve food: Pickling and jamming are great ways to preserve extra fruits and vegetables.

3. Use your freezer! Items purchased in bulk can be kept frozen until you are ready to use them.
