COVINGTON PARKS & RECREATION

Park UpdatesCovington Community Park Phase 2Construction of CCP Phase 2 is on track as we expand this community’s inspiring athletic complex and recreation areas. You may have noticed a lot of earthwork and equipment onsite. These are all signs that the project is progressing on schedule. Curbs, sidewalks, wetland, bioretention cells, trails, paths, buildings, shelters and parking spaces are many of the amenities you will see taking shape. A ribbon cutting and grand opening of the expanded park is planned for late summer 2018. If you have any questions about the park please contact Parks Project Manager, Mary Gardocki at (253) 480-2488.

Jenkins Creek Park – Master PlanOver the past year the city has completed a master planning effort for Jenkins Creek Park that will shape the park’s future. The planning effort has included three public workshops, engagement with stakeholder groups and multiple reviews by the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission. The proposed plan is scheduled to be presented to City Council on February 27 and

adoption of a final plan is scheduled for the March 13 city council meeting. Learn more about the Jenkins Creek Park Master Plan online at www.covingtonwa.gov/parks/JCP.

AquaticsWATER EXERCISE

The American College of Sports Medicine suggests rhythmic, continuous exercise three to five days a week for 20-60 minutes, depending on the exercise. Water exercise classes are great aerobic and cardiovascular workouts that will increase your cardiovascular endurance, improve your heart rate and lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Our water exercise classes are one hour long and available on a drop-in basis on the days and times listed on the pool schedule.

WATERX BOOTCAMPThis class is for individuals who would like a low impact but intense cardio and muscle building workout, incorporating a mixed version of Shallow and Deep WaterX classes.

WATERX - SHALLOW AEROBICSClasses located in the shallow end utilize aerobic and cardiovascular components. Being low-impact classes, they emphasize stretching and develop muscular strength and range of motion.

WATERX - DEEP AEROBICSClasses located in the deep end are one of the greatest aerobic and toning workouts available with no impact on the body’s joints! These aerobic and cardiovascular classes provide muscular conditioning with particularly excellent core strengthening.
