Going out
A diversified culinary landscape from good plain via in-
ternational to haute cuisine and a very active pub scene
ensure an atmospheric finale of a day filled with manifold
impressions.
Do not miss to visit a performance on the stage of the An-
halt Theatre. Opera, musical theatre, ballet, classical con-
certs or stage performances – the offer is big.
There are two cinemas in Dessau: The UCI cinema shows
mainly recent movies. The art-house cinema Kiez-Kino
with only 50 seats is one of the smallest cinemas in Ger-
many and definitely worth the experience.

Explore the World Heritage Region
Dessau is the ideal starting point for exploring the World
Heritage Region Anhalt-Dessau-Wittenberg. Many of
the region‘s UNESCO World Heritage sites are located
in Dessau. Others, like the Luther Memorial sites in
Lutherstadt Wittenberg, are only about 30 km away.
Wander in the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach or Ca-
therine the Great in the residential towns of the Anhalt
principalities Bernburg, Köthen and Zerbst.
Enjoy natural beauty in the natural reserves Dübener
Heide and Fläming or at Goitzsche Lake – a former mining
district transformed into a water sports paradise. Learn
more about the mining history of the region in Ferropolis,
the “City of Iron“. Five huge excavators form the backdrop
of a spectacular festival area.
Leisure activities
Besides the UNESCO World Heritage sites and the muse-
ums, there is more to discover in Dessau-Roßlau. Go on a
cycling tour through the pristine nature of the Biosphere
Reserve Middle Elbe. The city has a large network of sign-
posted cycling routes. You can rent bicycles at the Tourist
Information and other facilities.
Take a canoe trip on the River Elbe, discover the town on
a Segway or see all from above on a sightseeing flight.
Other activities like Golf, indoor climbing, bowling, mini-
golf and swimming in several indoor and outdoor pools
or natural lakes offer relaxation.
The staff of the Tourist Information will gladly assist you in
planning your stay.
Guided tours
The Tourist Information offers a large number of public
guided tours in German – from a classic city tour to walks
through the historic Dessau with the night guard.
Guided tours with an english speaking guide can be boo-
ked as well. Ask our staff of the Tourist Information for fur-
ther details.
They can also provide you with further information mate-
rial in English, e.g. pocket guides about the Bauhaus buil-
dings and the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom.
