    TheInternisexpectedtoworkaminimumof10hoursaweekforaminimumof4monthsand/oratotalof120hours.Thereisnosalaryorbenefits,buttheInternwillreceiveastipendof$500uponsuccessfulcompletionofthe4-monthperiodorafterhavingworked120hours,

    whicheveroccursfirst.Extensionoftheinternshiporfull-timeorpart-timeemploymentwithCEOsforCitiesaftersuccessfulcompletionoftheinternshipwillbeconsiderediftheInternisinterested.

    TheInternprovidesorganizationalandcreativesupporttotheCommunicationsManagerandotherClevelandstaffintheClevelandoffice.TheInternassistswithtechnologyandsocialmedia,speechwriting,research,eventplanning,projectmanagement,websitemanagement,andvisualpresentations.

    CityVitals:OursignatureresearchisCityVitals,andCityVitals2.0whichhasbeenwidelyusedasahandbookforbenchmarkingurbanperformanceanddesigningcityandregionaleconomicstrategies,especiallyforthenations51largestmetroareasandcities.CityVitalsaddressesthemostcriticalissuefacingAmericancitiestoday-Whatdoesittakeforacitytosucceedintodaysglobaleconomy?Inanincreasinglyglobalandknowledge-driveneconomy,theingredientsofsuccessarechanging.

    CityVitalsanalyzesthefourkeycharacteristicstoeconomicsuccesstoday,thatspellCITY:Connections,Innovation,TalentandYourcitysdistinctiveness.Citiessucceedbecausetheyarewell-connected,bothinternallyandtothewiderworld,becausetheyarefertileplacesforinnovationandentrepreneurship,becausetheynurtureandattracttalent,andbecauseeachcityhasdistinctivecharacteristicsandstrengths.

    CurrentActionAgenda:

    TheTalentDividend(TD),asignatureprogramofCEOsforCities,fosterssuccessamongournetworkcitiestoincreasethepost-secondaryattainmentrateamongtheirresidents.Inamovetoincreasethepoliticalandcivicwilltoproducemorecollegegraduatesandtherebyhelpcitiescapturerealeconomicgains,CEOsforCitiescalculatedTheTalentDividend.Weenteredthe

    conversationoneducationfromaplaceoffocusingontheeconomicsuccessofcities.Ourresearch,accompaniedbya32-citytour,helpedplacetalentdevelopmentonthecivicagendaofmanycitiesacrossthecountry.Wearecurrentlyinthemiddleofa$1millionprizecompetitionwith57citiescompetingtoseewhichcitycanraisetheircollegecompletionthefastestinthreeyears.WeconveneregularlythroughourvirtualnetworkandannuallyforaTalentDividendconference.

    TheGreenDividend:CEOsforCitiesunderstandsthatglobalclimatechangeisaprofoundthreattohumanity.Wehavewitnessedanincreasingnumberofcitiespursuinggreenpoliciesinrecentyears.Cityresidentsearnagreendividendbecausetheysaveoncarsandgas.Thismeanslocalresidentshavemoremoneytospendonotherthingstheyvalue,whichinturnstimulatesthe

    localeconomy.CEOsforCitiescoinedthetermGreenDividendin2007.FollowingourinitialreportPortlandsGreenDividend,wehavepreparedcityspecificreportsforNewYork,Chicago,andSanDiego.In2008,theGreenDividendwasincorporatedintothebroaderCityDividendsreport,whichestimatedthatreducingvehiclemilestraveledinthe50largestUSmetropolitanareasbyonemileperpersonperdaywouldproducesavingstoUSconsumersof$28.6billionannually.

    SincepublishingtheGreenDividend,CEOsforCitieshasproduceseveralsupportingpiecesofresearchthatprovidecomplementaryinsightsabouthowcitiesprovideeconomicadvantagesbyenablinggreenerlifestyles.DriventotheBrinkshowedthatcorecityrealestatetendedtoretain

    itsvaluebetterthanexurbanrealestateinthefaceofrisinggasprices.WalkingtheWalkshowedthatwalkabilityaddsmeasurablytotherealvalueofurbanhousing.

    FutureCityDividends:WearecurrentlyexploringthedevelopmentofnewCityDividendssuchas

    anOpportunityDividend,InnovationDividend,HealthDividend,ImmigrationDividend,anda

    LivabilityDividend.

    ChangeByUsisadigitalinteractivecivicengagementplatformthatlinkscitizenswiththeircity

    government.IthasbeenlaunchedinNewYorkCityandPhiladelphia,andwillbelaunchedinat

    least3additionalAmericancitiesin2013.

    OverridingCEOsforCitiesTeamworkPrinciple:Thesmallertheorganization,themore

    importantitisthatteammemberscanthinkontheirfeet,adaptquicklytoshiftingpriorities,and

    dowhateverittakes,regardlessofroleorposition,togetthingsdone.GreatCEOsforCitiesteam

    membersknow,oftenevenwithoutbeingtold,whenthere'saproblem,issue,orprojectthatneeds

    helpandsupport,andjumpintohelpevenifit'snotintheirjobdescription.
