LINDSAY ROBERTS

Speaker Biographies

Lo Ma s is a twenty-nine year old single father and re-entry student majoring in Business at City College of San Francisco. He is dedicated to helping fellow students challenged with similar backgrounds as his own. Lerone has also been a student worker at City College of San Francisco for the last two years in the Student Activities Offi ce, all while making considerable progress in his education.

A former foster child himself, Lerone has been a ively involved with the Guardian Scholars Program at CCSF that helps foster youth transition out of the foster care system into higher education. He has been dedicated to helping other students pursue their dreams by encouraging and helping them navigate CCSF. He has been working on the Chancellor’s equity task force to help reduce English remedial sequencing and provide Financial Aid solutions.

Lerone is a recipient of the Offi ce of Student Aff airs Excellence Award, which is a tribute to the unsung heroes and heroines working at CCSF. He has also received the Fostering Futures Scholarship that recognizes former foster youth, for their academic excellence. Lerone has successfully overcome signifi cant challenges in obtaining his education and is now graduating from City College of San Francisco with honors, and has been accepted to UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, San Jose State University and San Francisco State University.

Lsay Ros, the 2012 Valedictorian, is an LGBT, disabilities rights, and environmental a ivist. She is proudest of her eff orts on the No On Prop campaign and is currently petitioning to save local forests.

She considers herself a free thinker, humanist, and skeptic. She is passionate about scientifi cally-based therapy methods. She loves hiking with her husband Sean and her dog Kiki, ending time with her family in Southern California, traveling, learning and eaking Spanish, volunteering and focusing on everything to do with lakes, rivers, and the ocean.

Lindsay is studying to become a Marriage and Family Th erapist. Aft er completing a rigorous course of study at City College of San Francisco, Lindsay has become an Honors Program student and a permanent member of Alpha Gamma Sigma. With a 4.0 GPA, she leaves City College of San Francisco to begin a new journey at her school of choice, Mills College.

JOHN DEBS

Speaker Biography

o s was born on August 22, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Ruth Kay Debs and Jerome Harold Debs. He has a sister, Kay Debs and a brother, Robert Debs. John grew up in Winnetka, Illinois and graduated from New Trier Township High School. He att ended Stanford University and earned an AB in History, 19 and a MBA in Economics, 198.

John worked for 10 years as an institutional brokerage analyst primarily following capital goods manufacturers. He was named to the Institutional Invest or All Star Team several times. In 1979 he founded Bodri Capital Management and proceeded to manage funds for individual and institutional invest ors in the stock market. Currently he is managing Catfi sh Partners, LLC, a long and value-biased hedge fund. He is also the principal invest or and chairman of Genomic Systems LLC, a start-up biotechnology company focusing on monoclonal antibodies to treat metastatic cancer.

John’s philanthropic a ivities through the Bodri Foundation focus on education, public broadcasting, and healthcare. John est ablished the Jerome H. Debs II Endowed Chair for Orthopaedic Traumatology at the University of Washington. John also est ablished the Jerome H. Debs II football and basketball scholarships at Stanford University. He and the Debs family have provided generous scholarship support to the students of City College of San Francisco. He is a member of the Stanford Athletic Board and was formerly a trustee of Reed College in Portland, Oregon.

John lives in Palo Alto with his wife Catherine and their two Hungarian Vizslas: Bodri and Gita.
