The licensed vocational nurse(LVN), an important member ofthe medical team, generally worksin acute and long-term care facili-ties. Vocational nurses may alsowork in clinics; be employed asutilization reviewers who evaluatemedical records in hospitals anddoctors’ offices; and participate inmany other health-related areas.
Qualified applicants are selectedto enter the program based onobjective testing conductedthroughout the Introduction toHealth Occupations 100 course.
The LVN program does notmaintain a waiting list. Selected
students and alternates arerequired by the Health SciencesDepartment to:
•Attend the orientationscreening for qualified applicants
•Complete a physical examination, required immunizations and CPR certification
•Show proof of student malpractice insurance
•Have all foreign transcripts translated into English and evaluated for equivalency (equal to 12th grade in theU.S.A.).
Fundamentals of nursing courses with actualpatient and hospital experience begin in the firstsemester. Student nurses practice at hospitals allover the San Gabriel Valley.

College AdmissionAdmission to Citrus College is opento high school graduates and anyperson 18 years of age or over.
To enroll, submit an application foradmission online at:https://wingspan.citruscollege.edu
New students enrolled in five ormore units and planning to earn anassociate degree, a certificate ofachievement, or a skill award musttake an English and math skillsassessment. In addition, new stu-dents who plan to enroll in English,mathematics or reading classes mustparticipate in the skills assessmentprocess.
Concurrent Enrollment for High School StudentsSome programs and classes are available to current junior and senior high school students.Interested students should contacttheir high school counselor or thecollege’s Admissions and RecordsOffice.
Associate DegreeFor an associate degree, a studentmust complete 60 degree-applicableunits of work and fulfill specific gen-eral education requirements, includ-ing electives and physical education.A cumulative grade-point average of2.0 (“C”) or above is required.

Transfer RequirementsTransfer requirements can be integratedwith the associate degree option so thatyou may receive a degree at the time oftransfer. See a counselor for specificrequirements for your major. Courserequirements may vary among colleges.
