VENUE

The symposiums will be held at the Academic Exchange Center, South-Central University for Nationalities (中南民族大学学术交流中心), which is located in Wuhan(武汉) as described by the map above. The distance from the airport to South-central University for Nationalities is about 60 km, and about 20 km from the railway station. If by taxi, it will cost about 150 Yuan and 30 Yuan, respectively.

SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION

SCOPE

The symposiums are intended to provide for the exposition and discussion of research on fine chemistry, functional polymers, energy storage and conversion materials, nano materials and other novel materials and their synthesis. Topics presented will be as following:

(A) Innovative catalytic and other synthetic methods including chiral and asymmetrical synthesis.

(B) Innovative polymer materials including supra-molecular (supermolecular, dynamers), conducting, semiconducting and biobased polymers, their properties and characteristics.

(C) Innovative energy systems including fuel cells, solar cells, lithium batteries, supercapacitors, and their key materials.

(D) Innovative nanomaterials such as one-, two-, and three-dimensional nanomaterials, their characterization and application.

(E) New ceramic materials such as superconductors, electronic, diaelectronic, ferroelectric, piezoelectric, optoelectric and magnetic materials.

(F) Other novel materials including drugs, perfumes, agricultural chemicals, electrical materials, photosensitive materials, displaying materials, fine ceramics and their preparation.

METHODS OF PRESENTATION

Plenary lectures (45 each), Keynote lectures (30 min each), invited lectures (20 min each), oral presentation (15 min each) and poster sessions. Multimedia projection facilities and 100 ( 150 cm poster boards will be available in lecture halls. As to speakers of plenary lectures, invited lectures and oral presentation, it is strongly recommended to use multimedia projector in the form of “ppt” since overhead projector will not be available for this symposium.

ABSTRACT PREPARATION

All participants except accompanying persons are requested to submit an extended abstract of their talk and poster, one page for each speaker. Usually one participant could not submit more than 2 abstracts. The abstract should be submitted in electronic version via the website of the symposium (Hwww.nms-iupac.org/2010H) after login. The typing area of each page should be no more than 16 cm wide by 23 cm deep. If there are several authors on the abstract, please underline the speaker. As to details for the preparation of the abstract, please refer to the template form. In emergency, the abstract can be emailed to the cochairman of the Symposiums, Prof. Jinlin Li, before July 31, 2010 in the form of “.doc”. Of course, extended full papers can be published in other journals. In order to avoid possible problems of copyrights, in the full paper please cite the page number of your abstract. In case of problems due to different version of Word processor, please also send a hardcopy by registered air mail to the cochairman of the Symposiums, Prof. Jinlin Li, before July 31, 2010. Of course, if the “.doc” file is confirmed in good order, a hard copy will not be needed.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION

July 31, 2010.

PAPER PUBLICATION

Some invited speakers can submit their talk to the journal, Functional Materials Letters, for a special issue. If interested, please contact the Organization Committee prior to 1st August, 2010. The Organization Committee will submit the list of possible contributors to the editor-in-chief who will decide and send the contributors the required information. After submission, the manuscript will be reviewed by normal process.

All of the lectures and contributions concerning functional polymers are recommended to submit to the journal Polymers for Advanced Technologies

(website: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/pat).

LANGUAGE

The official language of the Symposiums is English.

TRAVELING INFORMATION

Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province, China, and is the most populous city in central China. It lies at the east of Jianghan Plain, and the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han River. Arising out of the conglomeration of three boroughs, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as the "thoroughfare of nine provinces"; it is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city. The city of Wuhan, first termed as such in 1927, has a population of approximately 9,100,000 people (2006), with about 6,100,000 residents in its urban area. It is recognized as the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational and transportation center of central China.

You can get there directly by flight or transferring from Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou International Airport and other big cities in China. The secretarial staff carrying a board with “IUPAC NMS-VI & FCFP-XX” will meet you at the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (Wuhan), and then guide you to Hotel. Please inform us timely your flight number, arrival time and the airport via the website of the symposium (www.nms-iupac.org/2010) or send us by email or fax to the GENERAL SECRETARY of the Symposiums Prof. Juncheng Hu. If you arrive in Wuhan before or after October 10th, the secretarial staff will also guide you to the Hotel according to your information if you need.

If you miss our pick-up service, please take a taxi to the hotel by yourself. You may show the map to the taxi driver.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

Banquet, night cruise along Yangtze River and watching ethnic folk dance performance will be held during the Symposiums. Ladies programs are also organized.

POST-SYMPOSIUM TOUR

October 15th ~ 16th, 2009

There are two routes for post-symposium:

Route 1: Wudang Mountain (武当山)

Located in western Hubei, Wudang Mountain is both a famous scenic spot and the Taoist Holy Land in China. The ancient architectural complex on the mountain was listed by UNESCO in 1994 as a World Culture Heritage Site.

The natural scenery of Wudang Mountain is powerful and magnificent, tinged with some fantastically serene and charming touches. Major scenic spots include 72 peaks, 36 rocky cliffs, and 24 streams.

Route 2 : Three Gorges (三峡)

The Yangtze River is the longest river in China as well as one of the longest rivers in the world. The Three Gorges on the Yangtze River are Famous for their breathtaking scenery, and are praised as nature's art gallery and wonderland. The water in the Mini Three Gorges is clean and both banks are blanketed with trees and have many historical sites, scenic spots and lovely legends. The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest and grandest water conservancy project - and one of mankind's greatest engineering projects.
