Here we are again in Sarno, the second most visited track in WSK racing history. A spectacular circuit that offers the perfect setting to let engines blare for a new round of the Master Series. Here the “big” who also battled in the first Euro Series events will be joined once more by the kids of the 60 Mini. A class in which the WSK has always invested a great deal, in the belief that it is important to cultivate tomorrow’s talents in the best of possible ways. In order to imbue new vital energy in the movement and because it’s beautiful to hear the voice of “mini-drivers” run through the paddock. And then hush to let engines do the talking.

Eccoci di nuovo a Sarno, la seconda pista su cui la WSK si è ritrovata più spesso. Un circuito spettacolare, scenario perfetto per riaccendere i motori della Master Series. Ai “grandi” che già si sono dati battaglia anche nelle 2 gare dell’Euro Series disputate, si aggiungono, qui, i giovanissimi della 60 Mini. Una classe cui la WSK ha sempre dedicato la massima attenzione, convinta del bisogno di coltivare i talenti del futuro nel miglior modo possibile. Per dare linfa vitale a tutto il movimento e perché, diciamolo, è davvero bello sentire le voci dei “mini-piloti” rincorrersi per il paddock. E poi zittirsi, per far parlare i motori.

KZ2: VERSTAPPEN SUPREME

ualifyings, four heats and two finals: this is the booty collected by Max Verstappen (CRG/TM) in the first round of the Master Series, leaving rivals

empty-handed. The first of those chasing after the flying Dutchman in final 2 is the Italian Paolo De Conto (Bire/TM), on a nice rebound from sixth place on grid. Closing behind him are Czech driver Patrik Hajek (Praga/Parilla) and 2012 Euro Series winner Jorrit Pex (CRG/TM), with Frenchman Jeremy Iglesias (Lenzo/LKE) following in fifth. In final 1 Verstappen is followed at the finish by Ben Hanley (ArgGP/TM), until Saturday one of the fastest on track, and Fabian Federer (CRG/Modena), literally flying with the brand new ASPA-Modena engine. On Sunday, Riccardo Negro (DR/TM) is a star in the heats, landing second on grid for the Final. A note of mention also goes to KZ2 rookie Charles Leclerc (ArtGP/TM), Euro Series winner in KF2 last year, for his nice performances.

Primo degli inseguitori in finale 2 è l’italiano Paolo De Conto (Bire/TM), che recupera bene dalla sesta casella di partenza, poi terzo è il ceco Patrik Hajek (Praga/Parilla), quarto l’olandese vincitore della Euro Series 2012 Jorrit Pex (CRG/TM) e quinto il francese Jeremy Iglesias (Lenzo/LKE). In finale 1 alle spalle di Verstappen c’è Ben Hanley (ArtGP/TM), che fino a sabato è stato tra i più veloci del gruppo, terzo è l’altoatesino Fabian Federer (CRG/Modena), che porta sul podio al debutto il motore ASPA-Modena Engines. Domenica, nelle manche di qualifica, fa bene Riccardo Negro (DR/TM) che parte secondo in Finale 2. Degna di nota la prestazione del rookie Charles Leclerc (ArtGP/TM) che dopo la vittoria nella KF2 della Euro Series lo scorso anno, fa subito bene in KZ2.

KF: BOCCOLACCI POUNCES

The twist comes at the last corner of the final, when rookie Dorian Boccolacci (Energy/TM) ends the duel against

Armand Convers (Kosmic/Vortex) with a “harsh” move. Third right behind the French duo is Canadian driver Lance Stroll (Zanardi/Parilla). Race leader for most of the race, prefinal winner Karol Basz (Tony Kart/Vortex) was struck by technical problems on the last lap and had to retire; the same exact thing happened earlier to Danish driver Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic/Vortex) in the prefinal, where he stalled while leading. In the final at the checkered Ben Barnicoat (ArtGP/TM) is fourth and the Dane Kevin Rossel (LH/BMB) is fifth, after a great recovery all the way from twenty-first on grid. At the end of the qualification phase the combined standings had Croatian driver Martin Kodric (FA Kart/Vortex) on top, with two heat wins, followed by Convers and Boccolacci, each winner of one race, and Nielsen, twice first.

Il colpo di scena è nell’ultima curva della finale, quando i due francesi Dorian Boccolacci (Energy/TM) e Armand Convers (Kosmic/

Vortex) duellano: alla fine, con una manovra “dura”, ha la meglio il pilota Energy al debutto in KF. Terzo sul traguardo il canadese Lance Stroll (Zanardi/Parilla). Il polacco Karol Basz (Tony Kart/Vortex), dopo aver vinto la prefinale, è in testa alla finale, ma all’ultimo giro subisce una panne tecnica che lo costringe al ritiro; stessa sorte tocca in Prefinale al danese Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic/Vortex), che quando è in testa viene fermato da una panne tecnica. Quarto in finale è Ben Barnicoat (ArtGP/TM), mentre quinto è il danese Kevin Rossel (LH/BMB), autore di una buona rimonta partita dal ventunesimo posto in griglia. Al temine delle manche di qualificazione il leader della classifica combinata è il croato Martin Kodric (FA Kart/Vortex), che vince due manche, seguito da Convers e Boccolacci, vincitori di una manche e da Nielsen, primo in due gare di qualifica.

KF-J: LORANDI DOMINATION

Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart/Vortex), Baby Race team, is simply invincible this time: best qualifier, winner of three of

his four heats, and first in both his Prefinal and in the Final. The weekend’s runner-up is Ricky Flynn Motorsport’s Lando Norris (FA Kart/Vortex), second in the final and first in Prefinal B, over Canadian driver Parker Thompson (Energy/TM), who proves he’s at ease in his first European event by claiming the third step of the round podium. The top 5 was completed by German driver Mick Betsch (Tony Kart/Vortex) and by Chaimongkol Sasakorn (ArtGP/TM). Another driver who did very well throughout the weekend is Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart/BMB): winner of two qualification heats and second in his prefnal. Nice perfomances also by “star of India” Jehan Daruvala (FA Kart/Vortex), already under the wing of the Sahara Force India F1 team, as well as English driver Max Fewtrell (FA Kart/Vortex) and Luxembourg-born Max Defourny (Kosmic/TM).

delle quattro manche disputate ed è primo sia nella sua Prefinale sia in Finale. Secondo in finale e primo nella Prefinale B è l’inglese Lando Norris (FA Kart/Vortex) del team Ricky Flynn Motorsport, terzo sul podio il canadese Parker Thompson (Energy/TM), che in Prefinale B è secondo alle spalle di Norris e alla sua prima gara in Europa dimostra di trovarsi subito a suo agio. Quarto il tedesco Mick Betsch (Tony Kart/Vortex) e quinto Chaimongkol Sasakorn (ArtGP/TM). Nel corso del week end buone prestazioni per Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart/BMB), vincitore di due manche di qualifica e secondo nella sua prefnale. Fanno molto bene anche l’indiano Jehan Daruvala (FA Kart/Vortex) - già sotto protezione del team Sahara Force India - il pilota inglese Max Fewtrell (FA Kart/Vortex) e il lussemburghese Max Defourny (Kosmic/TM).

60 MINI: MAINI SLIPS IN

K ush Maini (Tony Kart/LKE), Baby Race’s Indian driver, is strong all weekend: winner of two heats, from pole to third in

the Prefinal, and winner of the Final, also thanks to a fatal contact between race leaders Eliseo Martinez (Hero/LKE) and Francesco Pagano (Top Kart/Parilla): the clash opened the way for Maini, leaving Martinez to claim second, after his Prefinal victory, and sending Pagano all the way down to twentieth. Third place was claimed by Greek driver Konstantinos (Hero/LKE), on a great rebound from eighth in the Prefinal. Fourth behind him is Rocco Negro (Top Kart/LKE), also author of a great recovery from the fourteenth spot on grid. Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo/LKE) chases all weekend and gets to second place in the Prefinal, then a breakdwon makes him close seventh. In both the Prefinal and the Final the best lap is by Pagano, while the fastest in the qualifyings is Martinez. Fifth place goes to Massimo Chinelli (Tony Kart/LKE).

Kush Maini (Tony Kart/LKE), l’indiano del team Baby Race, va forte per tutto il week end. Due manche vinte, pole in Prefinale,

terzo al traguardo della Prefinale e vincitore in Finale, anche grazie al colpo di scena che ha coinvolto Eliseo Martinez (Hero/LKE) e Francesco Pagano (Top Kart/Parilla), in quel momento davanti a tutti, che si sono toccati all’ultima curva: Martinez - già vincitore in Prefinale - chiude così secondo e Pagano ventesimo. Terzo in Finale il greco Konstantinos (Hero/LKE), che recupera dall’ottava posizione in Prefinale. Quarto al traguardo della Finale Rocco Negro (Top Kart/LKE), protagonista di una buona rimonta dalla quattordicesima posizione al via. Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo/LKE)recupera per tutto il week end fino alla seconda posizione in Prefinale a pochi giri dalla fine, quando un guasto lo costringe a chiudere settimo. In Prefinale e Finale il giro veloce è di Pagano, mentre nelle qualifiche il più rapido è Martinez. Quinto, infine Massimo Chinelli (Tony Kart/LKE).

Siamo al giro di boa della Stagione WSK. I due campionati sono giunti a metà e iniziano a delinearsi i volti dei piloti che possono avere concrete chance di vittoria, almeno in base a quanto dimostrato finora. Ecco tutti i vincitori delle gare disputate fino ad oggi. In attesa delle cinque prove ancora da correre per quanto riguarda Euro e Master Series e dell'ultimo atto della stagione: la WSK Final Cup.

We're at the turning point of the WSK season. With both championships at their halfway mark, we are getting a sense of the drivers who might have concrete chances at victory, at least based on what they've proven so far. La stagione del grande karting 2013, oltre alle serie WSK in pieno svolgimento, ha ancora la grande pagina CIK-FIA tutta da vivere. Come ormai noto, per il primo anno le gare più prestigiose del karting internazionale marchiate dalla Federazione saranno organizzate da WSK Promotion. Una garanzia di esperienza e professionalità al servizio delle competizioni che assegnano i titoli continentali e mondiali. Il primo appuntamento è in Germania, Domenica 19 maggio, con la prima prova del Campionato Europeo CIK-FIA.

The 2013 season of top level karting, besides the WSK series in full action, still has the great CIK-FIA quests to look forward to. And this year, the most prestigious international karting championships with federal sponsorship will be organized by WSK Promotion. A guarantee of experience and reliability in the service of the battles that assign the European and World titles. Save the date: May 19, round one of the CIK-FIA European Championship in Germany.
