producers, with the financial support of :

• 6 cantons: Geneva, Vaud, Valais, Neuchâtel, Fribourg, Jura.

• 4 cities : Geneva, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, La Chaux-de-Fonds.

• La Loterie Romande (Lottery funds).

Goal: Support artistic liberty & diversity

• Support filmmaking by producers and directors based in the region.

Selective support (aide sélective)

• Support for script-writing up to 25'000 € for all long formats (fiction, documentary, TV-series) and for animation.

• Support for production up to 330'000 € for all formats, except TV documentaries and series.

• Criteria: Artistic value

• Support awarded in 2015 : 3’920’537 CHF

Workflow Selective support

• 4 deadlines per year

• The producer applies with script and production file.

• The CCP (Conseil Consultatif des Producteurs, 3 members) checks the production file and confirm or recommends adjustments to the support amount.

• The CAS (Commission d'aide sélective, 7 membres) selects the projects to be support based on artistic value and budget limits.

• Cinéforom issues a letter of intent.

• A project can be submitted 3 times.

Automatic support (soutien complémentaire)• Production support.

• Criteria: obtention of either selective support by the Federal Office for Culture (OFC) or coproduction by Swiss Television/SSR.

• Support amount: 50% of reference support (2016)

• Support rate is adjusted once a year, based on projected demand.

Workflow Automatic support

• Assessment & decisions made by the secretariat, no commissions.

• Production sends copy of

• the letter(s) of intent from the Federal Office for Culture or Swiss Television,

• the budget and financial plan.

• Cinéforom issues a letter of intent for the amount valid for 12 months.

Who can apply? Registre des producteur romands

• Only registered producers can apply for support.

• The producer can either register as «Producteur romand» or as «Producteur suisse».

• Admission criteria: official company in trade register, residence of manager in the region for at least 3 years prior to registration.

Regional coefficient• The director or producer must be «regional»

• Regional producer, swiss director: 100%

• Swiss producer, regional director: 50%*

• Regional producer, foreign director 25%*

• Limits and support rates are multiplied by regional coefficient

• (*) 100% of the support must be spent in the region

Maximum support amounts

• Selective support: 330'000 € or 40% of the Swiss part of the budget.

• Selective and automatic support combined: 660'000 € or 60% of the Swiss part of the budget.

• Limits are multiplied with the regional coefficient

Electronic application platform (Guichet électronique)

• All applications must be entered on a protected space of our website.

• The secretariat sends its messages relating to project applications and paiements via the website.

• Gradually, a timeline with documents is generated for each film, and serves as an archive for both the producer and for Cinéforom.

Payment of support

• Up to 90% of the support is paid when the film is fully financed (agrément de tournage).

• 10% of the support is paid after presentation of the accounts.

• Upon request from the producer, 15% of the support can be paid out immediately following the support decision, as an advance to cover costs relating to «preproduction».
