Introduction

•This presentation is an illustration of the process

of how an instrument is introduced to and

managed by ION today.

•Objectives:

how ION will be used

instruments (SBE37, PRESF) that will remain available to Beta Testers.

Caveat Emptor

•While functionality of the ION System to support

the command & control of an instrument and

persist data is complete the user facing access of

some of this functionality is not currently

implemented necessitating the use of interim

measures such as the ION preload.

Prerequisites

• Port Agent

• One for each instrument port

• Instrument Agent

• One template for each instrument class and series (at a minimum)

• Once verified (refer to previous process), the IA is published into ION

• Once activated, the first article device associated with the IA is available in ION

• 2 currently: SBE37SMP & PRESF

• Registration / Instrument preload (in lieu of a UI for now)

• Instrument identification

• Associated Instrument Agent and Port Agent

• Instrument data dictionary

• Stream definitions

• Data processes
