Our church really is a caring family. Because we have a strong sense of community, love, and respect, we extend the love of Jesus to those around us.

Our history inspires us toward faithful living. Many of the families that founded our church are still here, faithfully serving, growing, and reaching out to the world.

Our foundation is God’s Word. We are nothing without Christ, and we believe the Bible is the Word of God.

Our generosity has enabled us to do more. Our church also acknowledges the size of the mission field and responds generously.

CHURCH PROFILE – DECEMBER 2019 2

Our mission is clear.

We resonate with Paul when he said, “I want to know Christ…” (Philippians 3:10) and “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known.” (Romans 15:20) Our mission is to know Jesus and make Jesus known. This is what guides us.

CHURCH PROFILE – DECEMBER 2019 3

Our church really is a caring family.

If we could summarize our church in one word, the Alto Reformed Church (ARC) could be summed up by the word “CARING”. We express our very welcoming spirit to visitors. Because we have a strong sense of community, love, and respect, we extend the love of Jesus to those who walk through our doors, and we reach out to the needs of the community in general. The ARC congregation desires to reach out to others and to grow together.

Our foundation is God’s Word.

The foundation of our church, and perhaps our most important strengths, include our unconditional commitment to the inerrancy of Scripture and our loyalty to Christ as Head of the Church. We are nothing without Christ, and we believe the Bible is the Word of God. The ARC stands on these principles. With a desire to stand with other churches we have joined The Gospel Alliance.

Our ministries are multi-generational.

Another one of our strengths is the encouragement of each person to exercise his or her spiritual gifts. We have many ministries to get involved in, and anyone can find his or her niche, no matter what age. Additionally, the ARC is striving to equip each age level, from nursery up through retired adults; providing a place where each person can grow in the Lord.

CHURCH PROFILE – DECEMBER 2019 7

Our history inspires us toward faithful

living. In 1847, Dutch settlers found their way to the middle of Wisconsin, established homes and began worshipping together. Many of these families are still here, faithfully serving, growing, and reaching out to the world. As you read of their challenges overcome and their deep devotion to God’s Word, you will be inspired to carry the torch they lit and build on the legacy they have left behind.

CHURCH PROFILE – DECEMBER 2019 9

Our community is a great place to live.

Alto Reformed Church is in a rural setting located in the town of Alto, Wisconsin. We are 5 miles from Waupun (population of 11,340), a half an hour from the larger cities of Fond du Lac and Beaver Dam, and roughly an hour drive to the major cities of Madison, Milwaukee, and Appleton. The population of the town of Alto is approximately 1,103. Its primary industry comes from a cheese processing plant within its borders, and the agricultural industry employs a large percentage of area residents. The congregation is comprised of members from Alto and the surrounding communities, including Brandon, Waupun, and others. Alto is located in the Waupun Area School District. The Laconia (Brandon and Rosendale) School District is a near-by option for families. Waupun also has the Central Wisconsin Christian School and a homeschool network.

The Alto Fair gives a wonderful picture of the community’s values. This small fair brings 2,000-3,000 people to our small town. It’s in the middle of the week to avoid Sunday and there is no alcohol or entrance fee. The food tent is run by volunteers and the proceeds cover most of the event’s expenses. Read more about it here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/2017/07/29/alto-4-h-and-farm-bureau-fair-slice-wisconsin-charm/512761001/

Although our church has strong roots, we realize that we cannot squander the opportunities and the talents God has provided us with. We must encourage each other to grow together in faith and to live out this faith daily. We believe that we must live a Christ-centered, God-serving life.
